A fun Spanish Immersion Camp for them

During this Spanish Immersion Camp, they will:

  • Spend their days speaking Spanish in a fun and exciting program
  • Experience a Spanish-Only curriculum in music, art, food, history and culture
  • Participate in activities that include plenty of beach, water, and sun
  • Participate in a one of a kind cultural and volunteer excursion
  • Make friendships with local children they'll remember forever
  • Have a unique, educational, and fun time - and all in Spanish!

See itinerary below for camp specifics.

A truly relaxing vacation for you

While your child has an experience to brag about all year, you can spend your vacation relaxing and enjoying yourself instead of stressing to make sure your kids are having a safe, fun time.

Relax, relax, relax - Enjoy days at the beach, pool, spa, golf course, bed, shopping or whatever you dream, at our all-inclusive, highly-rated resort.

Quality family time - after a day of relaxing for you and a jam-packed day of fun for them, come back together for dinner as a family to share stories of the day - trust us, distance does make the heart grow fonder!

Be a part of their experience - you may not get a chance to personally engage in their language learning day to day, but this experience will give you opportunities to experience it with your child first hand.  Join us during pre-trip activities, the welcome reception, the closing event, and all the take home activities to show your child their Spanish journey is important to you.  It will be so rewarding for both you and your child!

At the end of your trip, you'll be able to go home feeling rejuvenated and your child buzzing with all the fun they had.

Our Host Resort: Paradisus Cancun

You can view all the room categories on the Paradisus Cancun website.

Paradisus Cancun is a chance to experience the stunning beauty that has made Cancun an international destination in the comfort of a luxury resort on par with the highest standards of excellence.  This commitment to quality is why Paradisus Cancun has been awarded Four Diamond honors since 2006 by AAA.

Tennis, a nine-hole par 3 golf course, Kids Club, YHI Spa and a Family Concierge option give you plenty to do and ways to explore during a picture perfect Cancun dream vacation.

Keeping Your Kids Safe & Healthy

As moms, we know that sending your kids off to camp can come with questions about their safety and health.  We also take this very seriously and have taken numerous precautions to ensure that our time together is as safe as it is fun and bilingual.

Registration

All parents will need to complete registration forms to make us aware of medical, allergy or other needs, plus your child's swim level.

Teachers

Campers will remain with camp teachers at all times.  Your camp teachers - Kathy Galloway and Noelia Diaz - will be CPR certified and background checks are available upon request.   Our music, art and yoga teachers will hired locally and always remain under the supervision of your camp teachers.

Swim and Sun

This is a vacation for your kids too, so we want them to enjoy a bit of fun in the sun - but with a few precautions.  We take sun exposure seriously and ask parents to bring campers with sunscreen already applied.  During our swim and sun time, kids will either remain together for an activity or be divided into swimmers/non-swimmers for pool time.  No child will be allowed in water deeper than 5 feet and non swimmers will not be allowed in water greater than waist deep.   Due to rough beach conditions, we are not planning to venture into beach water.  We  may, however, enjoy some sand activities - with enough sunscreen, of course!

Finding Us

Parents will receive a detailed agenda at the beginning of camp, as well as contact information for both camp teachers, so that you may reach us at any time.  Parents are welcome to check in on us throughout the day (although you should be drinking a cocktail poolside!).  However, parents are not allowed to stay with the camp group throughout our time together for the safety of the other children.

Leaving the Hotel

For the safety of all our campers, we will remain on the hotel property for the entirety of the camp with the exception of the Volunteer & Cultural Excursion.  For this Excursion, we will be contracting an established, prominent and insured tour operator and parents will join us.

Please see the FAQs below for more details on our safety precautions.

Frequently Asked Questions

>>>>>>>CAMP DETAILS<<<<<<<<<

Who is the leading this event?
This Spanish Immersion Vacation is hosted by Dual Language Family.  We have curated the entire trip for our guests.

How does the camp work?

The first night of our trip, all families will meet at our Welcome Reception.  Each camp morning, you will drop off your camper at our designated location.  Parents will be required to sign campers in each day. Campers will enjoy a full day of activities, while parents enjoy their vacation. At the end of the camp day, parents will pick up campers at our designated location and sign them out - only authorized family members will be allowed to pick up campers. Families will have late afternoons and evening to spend together. For our Field Trip (excursion) day, we will meet first thing in the morning and travel to our event, returning before dinner.  on the final camp day, families can join us for our end of camp presentation.

Who is leading the camp?

Our Educational Director, Noelia Diaz, and Program Director, Kathy Galloway, will be the day to day camp leads.  They will greet you at drop off and pick up, and spend the entire day with your kiddos.  You can read more about them here.  Background checks for them are available upon request.  Additionally, while we expect and hope never to need either, we will carry liability insurance as well as have CPR certifications for the protection of our dual kids.

What is the teacher/kid ratio?  How many kids in the camp?

There is a maximum enrollment of 25 kids in the camp, and two lead teachers.

What if I have a child that is under 6 or over 11 that already speaks some/a lot of Spanish - can she attend the camp?

The camp is designed for elementary school-aged kids from 6 to 11 or that are entering 1st thru 6th grade in the Fall of 2019.  We may consider exceptions to this if you have one child that fits the criteria but a second child that does not.  The second child must have at least 2 years daycare and/or pre-school experience to be considered.  Please reach out to us at hola@duallanguagefamily.com.

All other children, along with all other family members, are welcome to join in the all-family activities, such as the welcome reception and closing presentation. There are a number of other activities at the hotel available to them and we suggest you consider upgrading to the Family Concierge service.

Do I need to be with my child everyday during the camp?

Nope!  While they are having  a blast and learning in Spanish, you can be on the beach, at the pool, at the spa, at the golf course, or just asleep on a hammock!  Enjoy your vacation, while we enrich our Spanish.

As the parent, do I need to speak Spanish?

Absolutely not!  While, you will have some opportunities for picking up a little bit of Spanish, your only job is to encourage a love of language in your child.  Encouraging them to speak as much Spanish as possible while on this trip will ensure they get the most of our time together.

What if my child doesn't swim, has allergies, needs medications, or other concerns?

Prior to our trip, you will complete a full registration form for each camper.  In this form, we will capture all critical information regarding your camper including whether or not they swim, have allergies, require specific medications or have any other special needs.   Campers who cannot swim will be required to wear life vests during all water activities and will not be allowed in water where they are unable to stand, with no exceptions.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate the dispensing or storing of any medication, helping with any bathroom needs, or support of any special needs.  However, we will happily coordinate with the parent to allow the camper to participate to their fullest and have the parent join us when/where necessary to support any of these types of requests.  For any other concerns, please contact us at hola@duallanguagefamily.com.

>>>>>>>PRICING<<<<<<<<<

What is included in the base package price?

Package prices will vary based on the room category (learn about room categories here) and number of adults (ages 12+).  All packages include the same general components: A 6 day, 5 night stay at the Paradisus Cancun for one or two adults; up to 2 children ages 0 - 12; and one (1) enrollment in the Spanish Immersion Vacation camp for a qualifying camper ages 6 - 11 or entering 1st - 6th grade in the fall of 2019.  The camp enrollment also includes an excursion ticket for the camper plus one adult.

What's not included?

Airfare, ground transportation and travel insurance are not included in the package prices.

Can I extend my trip?

Yes - our specially negotiated group rate is available 3 days prior and 3 days after our scheduled group trip.  Please ask us for more information if you are interested in this option.

When are payments due?

Deposits of $299 are due at the time of registration. The balance is due in THREE EQUAL PAYMENTS: February 1st - payment 1, - March 15th - payment 2, May 1st - payment 3.  Since we are not liable for airfare and other travel costs incurred, we highly recommend that other non-refundable purchases are completed after the first installment is paid.

Are you only accepting deposits at this time?  What if I want to pay in full?  When will other payments be due?

As of February 1st, the deposit amount of $299 plus the first installment of 1/3rd of your trip balance  will be due.  The additional installments of 1/3rd each will be due on March 15th and on May 1st.  You may choose the option to pay in full at the payment page.

Why is the booking page charging the room rate per participant?

On the booking page, select only "1 participant" regardless of the number of travelers in your family. Choosing more than 1 participant will incorrectly increase the price of the packages.   Our payment platform, WeTravel (this website), is set up to book at a per person rate.  However, we have negotiated our pricing at the room level.  When booking, please ignore the field for the number of participants and leave it at just 1 participant regardless of how many are travelling in your party.

What if we don't want to go on the excursion?  Can I get a discount?

While it will be an incredibly enriching component of the camp, campers are not required to participate in the excursion.  However, for every camper that is joining the excursion, one adult is required.  Unfortunately, no discounts will be offered even if campers decide to skip the excursion.

>>>>>>>ABOUT THE RESORT<<<<<<<<<

What are the room options?

There are Lagoon View and Ocean View rooms.  You can book for 1 adult, 2 adults and 3 adults per room.  Up to 2 children 12 and under stay free.

What do all the room categories mean?

You can learn more about the hotel's room categories on the hotel website here: https://www.melia.com/en/hotels/mexico/cancun/paradisus-cancun/rooms.html

>>>>>>>TRAVEL DETAILS<<<<<<<<<

What do I need to travel to Mexico?

For all U.S. citizens, travel to Mexico requires a U.S. passport.  Please visit the U.S. Department of State website to learn more about passports and other requirements for you and your family, including rules for traveling with kids outside of the country without both parents.  All guests are responsible for having their proper documentation for travel.  We will not be able to offer any refunds for guests who do not have their proper documentation prior to travel.

Where can I purchase travel insurance?

Several companies online offer travel insurance.  We recommend you search for "cancel for any reason travel insurance" or speak with your personal insurance agent.

What time do I need to arrive on Sunday and when should we plan to depart on Friday?

Our first activity on Sunday is at 4pm.  It is recommended that guests arrive at the hotel property no later than noon to ensure you are able to check -in, have lunch, and relax prior to our welcome event.

How do I arrange airport transportation?

There are several well-rated transportation companies listed on TripAdvisor.  Additionally, the hotel concierge will be happy to help arranging airport transfers.  Finally, you are welcome to search online for Cancun airport transfers.  Please AVOID waiting until arriving at the hotel to arrange airport travel as you increase the level of risk when doing so.

>>>>>>>ADDITIONAL NEEDS<<<<<<<<<

What if I want to enroll my second child in the camp?

What if I want another adult or another child to attend the excursion?

Additional camp enrollments are available for $699.  Additional adult excursion tickets are available for $125.  Additional child excursion tickets are available for $100.  These selections can be made at the booking page and will be added to your "total package price" at a later time.

Can I bring/invite other family members?

The whole entire extended family is welcome!  That is an excellent way to show your child how much your family values his language learning.  Please note that every room booked as part of our group does include one child camp registration and this cannot be discounted even if no child is in the room.  Additional bookings can be made during the same dates that are not officially part of our group.  Please ask us for more information if you are interested in this option.

Are you offering any additional after camp care?

We are not currently offering extended care. However, if you are interested in extended care for your camper after our normal camp hours, please let us know and we may consider providing the service if multiple families would like to take advantage of this option.

>>>>>>>ABOUT MEXICO<<<<<<<<<

Is Cancun really safe for our family?

We have traveled to Mexico countless times and have always felt safe.  Nonetheless, for the safety of our campers, our program is designed to be held almost exclusively on the hotel property.  Our one day excursion out of the hotel property requires the participation of one adult for every camper and will be with an established, well-known excursion company.  Finally, the U.S. Department of State has issued a travel advisory recommending increased caution, but no travel restrictions as of November 15, 2018.

If the advisory changes between now and our trip, we reserve the right to make changes to the excursion and/or the trip.  We may decide to cancel the excursion component for another activity on the hotel property.  While EXTREMELY unlikely, we reserve the right to cancel the trip all together for the safety of all participants.  For this reason, it is HIGHLY encouraged that you consider "cancel for any reason" travel insurance as we will be unable to offer refunds for any expenses other than the hotel, and that is ONLY if the hotel property offers us a refund.
