About this trip

Dudh Kunda is a holy lake with pristine beauty of White Himalaya and jungle trekking in a camping experience. An week adventure to collect adventure in camping trek of Nepal in lower Everest region, Dudh Kunda lake trekking can be your best choice.

Best Time for Dudh Kunda Lake Trekking

Dudh Kunda trek is a camping trek destination in Lower Everest. Thus camping trek must be considered in favorable weather conditions. Camping in cold and rainy season is not recommended, however people trek in those time of the year as well.

Best time to trek to Dudh kunda is in the Autumn and Spring. Autumn are the months from September to November and Springs are the months from March to May. These months are favored more over Monsoon & winter is because of good weather conditions. During these months; temperature is mild and sky is clear. Blue sky and white mountains makes your trip a best trip to unexplored region of Everest Himalaya.

Why not to trek Dudh Kunda in the monsoon?

Because these months are supposed to have all day rain. And to trek in the rainy season in the off the beaten trail is not fun. And also this is a camping trek so accommodation will not be comfortable. Wet body and sleeping in the small tents will not be fun rather a challenge, if you want to accept. And more importantly – Monsoon season is supposed to have clouded sky for most of day light. Thus you might not be able to see what you have expected to see in Dudh Kunda Trekking.

But Still in Monsoon, Dudh kunda lake observers a big festival. The festival is called janai purnima and is celebrated among Hindu as well as Buddhist Community. This lake is thus called a holy lake.

Why not to trek in the winter?

Camping trek in the winter is supposeingly less fun than in the mentioned good season to trek to Dudh Kunda. Winter days will have clear sky and temperature will be mild and favorable. But the nights and morning (before sun rise); the temperature will be too much cold. Cold is the only reason for winter to be unfavorable month for Trekking to Dudh Kunda lake. In winter – you will be able to see the frozen lake of Dudh Kunda – whoich you will not get to see in other season trek to Dudh Kunda lake.

Culture & Nature

The region is dominated by Chettri, who are known as the brave folks Gurkhas in Anglo – Nepal War, whereas Rai and Tamang and Sherpa are famous as Gurkha’s in British, Singapore, HongKong security forces and Indian Army force.

This milky pond is holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist. One of the; off – the – beaten trail of Nepal Himalaya, near to Everest, this trail offers trekkers a peace in nature less people and charming peoples. This trekking trail gives clear picture of Mt. Numbur chulli and other several unnamed and named Himalayan range. You will see Numbur peak on your arrival at Phaplu, a stunning White Mountain in the middle of the mountain range you see in the north. Rhododendrons forest with many wild animals makes trekkers more interesting.
