Tasteful in every detail and appointed with modern amenities, CalyCanto Casitas has three fully furnished homes in a lavish boutique resort community, located on five gently sloping acres of desert terrain, 700 yards above the Pacific Ocean. The property is 2.5 miles from the town of Todos Santos, offering magnificent ocean views and generous terraces. All in a spacious, yet intimate, setting. Embodying the architectural heritage of Mexico, rustic design seamlessly blends with modern conveniences to stimulate the senses. Expansive and richly appointed, each casita offers an indoor-outdoor flow, with colorfully painted designs and finishes, decorative wrought-iron, and antique mesquite furniture painstakingly handcrafted by Mexican artisans. Walk barefoot on Saltillo floors. Enjoy breakfast on colorfully hand painted Talavera tiles. Siesta in a hand-woven hammock for two as gentle shadows from the Palapa roof drift across the room and the ocean breeze blows gently across the terrace. Take an outdoor shower while watching the silhouette of Royal Palms and native catcti dot the sunset. These lavish accommodations offer the perfect rooftop vantage point to contemplate the moon’s reflection over the migrating whales in the deep blue waters of the Pacific. From the master bedroom or your private terrace, gaze upon a pristine, white sand beach, or simply enjoy a refreshing siesta in one of the shaded hammocks under a Palapa. Or, if you prefer, enjoy a moonlit dinner on your private terrace before you sneak inside to the comfort of 500 thread count sheets. While some guests choose to never leave the premises, others prefer to participate in limitless adventure and exploration. Look out your window to watch the annual migration of the Humpback and Gray Whales or check the surf. Witness pottery being first hand, with the same process used for centuries in the nearby Sierra de la Laguna mountain range. Relax to a custom compilation of music in your own sensuously elegant and comfortably spacious private palapa. CalyCanto Casitas are not about high-speed internet or cable television (although modern conveniences are certainly available). What we offer is an escape to simplicity, a path to tranquility, a destination where time stands still. Where you can be lulled to rest by the rhythm of waves in the distance or simply lean back and look toward the heavens to gaze at the shimmering stars. Where you can share and build memories. Where you can find yourself.
Surrounding Area:Todos Santos was created by an exodus of artists from Sante Fe, New Mexico nearly 20 years ago. The well known Charles Stewart and his Cherokee Indian wife Mary Ann, rolled into town some twenty-five years ago seeking peace and refuge from the exploding tourist art communities of Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. Stewart painted dreamy paintings loaded with American Indian symbology heavily influenced by the surrealist movement of the 40’s, was associated with that migration. Reportedly, they felt that their town was becoming too commercial. A walk through the town seems to confirm this story. Combine miles of pristine beaches (which are increasingly becoming a Mecca for surfers), with the sweetly growing ambience of a Baja village relatively unspoiled by tourism and turned artistic and throw in some local heart and the recipe could be unparalleled. Long known as a cultural, artistic and agricultural center, the town is a desert oasis, one kilometer from the Pacific Ocean at the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, on the Pacific coast side of the Baja California Peninsula, about an hour’s drive north of Cabo San Lucas on Highway 19 and an hour’s drive south from La Paz. The location of Todos Santos is 23°26′56″N 110°13′32″W, very near the Tropic of Cancer at 23° 26′ 22″ N in the municipality of La Paz. The population was 4,078 at the census of 2005.
