About this trip

You don't want to miss this opportunity to be up close and personal with the baby gray whales of San Ignacio Lagoon! The Whale Safari Tour is our most popular excursion, so we have several trips during the peak season to accommodate everyone who wants to participate in the indescribable experience.

Hundreds of Pacific gray whales return to their traditional breeding and birthing grounds in sheltered San Ignacio Lagoon on Mexico's Baja Peninsula every winter. Friendly and engaging, they are often intrigued with humans, swimming right up to our open boats. We may see mothers "showing off" and sharing their babies with us as we frequently interact with them up close. The whales entertain us with breaching and spy-hopping, and we sometimes observe mating behavior as well. The Pacific gray whale migration from Alaska's Bering Sea to the warm waters of Baja's Pacific lagoons is the longest mammal migration on Earth. Nearly hunted to extinction in the past, these gentle giants have made a dramatic comeback and today show little fear.

When you come with us to Baja to see them, you'll be forever spoiled for whale watching because it doesn't get any better than this! Once you look into the eyes of these magnificent, spiritual creatures and hold your hand out for them to touch you, your life will never be the same!

Mahalo Sailing Adventures does NOT disappoint. The trip was well planned out and there were multiple activities planned for the group. Boats did have the opportunity to adjust their daily plans but for the most part all boats ended up together in the evening. The boat that was chartered was in great condition and no issues occurred. All the meals on the boat were fabulous and freshly prepared. Staying a few days before the charter allowed time to see the island and take a guided tour. We had a couple of opportunities to sail on the south side of the island and visit various coves etc. Plenty of opportunities to snorkel and swim! I can't ever get enough sailing. I would be interested in trips where there is an increased opportunity for more sailing. I had an excellent time and met some truly wonderful women. Go Tribe!!!!!! I will definitely be participating in another Rendezvous!
