About this trip

Join Yoga instructors, Shayna Frankel & Carol Collins for an adventure in the gorgeous mountains of Costa Rica.

Spend six days immersed in the magic and charm of Costa Rica, and the beauty, tranquility and uniqueness that comes with a visit to El Sabanero Eco Lodge. Often times we go on vacation and return home tired and tanned. However, a yoga retreat vacation is a chance to take time off to return renewed, enthusiastic, and full of energy. Furthermore, a daily Yoga practice will allow you to build a healthy habit with Yoga that you can bring back home with you.

The Instructors

Shayna, a Maryland native, has been teaching in DC since 2014.

She completed her 200-hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) training at Tranquil Space Yoga Studio in 2014 and her 500-hr RYT training in 2017. She currently teaches many varieties of Vinyasa yoga for adults and children, catering each class to meet the needs of her students. She aims to create a welcoming and friendly space where students can be comfortable exploring their own edge without self-judgment. Shayna loves crafting creative playlists that can help guide her students through each moment of class from centering the mind to finding bliss in Savasana.

Carol loves helping people learn about their bodies and themselves through yoga.

She focuses on mindfulness, encouraging students to reach within themselves, to slow down and find their grounding. In her classes, she facilitates a calming flow balancing strength and flexibility and explores the science of yoga alignment. Her music is a combination of kirtan and new age calming music with a sprinkle of folksie, jazzy and funky lyrical music.  Carol founded the Baby and Me Yoga Classes at Tranquil Space Yoga Studio and offers Teaching Training for fitness instructors in postpartum issues.  She has been teaching since 2002 and has E-RYT 500 certification with Yoga Alliance.   Carol also holds a master's degree in education and is a former elementary and middle school teacher.

Shayna began her Yoga journey in 2011 with a desire for a quiet place to escape the mind after spending over a decade in the restaurant industry. After moving to Washington DC, a friend suggested she'd try Yoga, and she was instantly hooked! The practice allows her to break free from the anxiety of everyday life, and silence the constant thoughts racing from a busy industry. Eager to continue her journey, Shayna jumped into her 200-hour teacher training in 2014. In 2018, Shayna completed her 500-hour teacher training with her thesis topic on "The Business of Yoga". Shayna loves helping students and teachers alike as they further their journey into Yoga.

This was an amazing weekend. The B and B was lovely...the owners were so sweet and accommodating. The food was outstanding...both breakfast and afternoon “snack.” Everything was well organized with freedom to opt in/out of activities. The wine tasting was great...3 very different wineries. And the yoga was perfect. We made some new friends, and can’t wait to do this again!
