About your trip

A relaxed wander through Scotland’s capital — with stories, scenery, and a few surprises along the way.

Edinburgh is a city that wears its history proudly, cobbled streets, dramatic skylines, royal palaces, and viewpoints that stop you in your tracks. On this private tour, I’ll collect you from your hotel, cruise ship, airport, wherever you’re starting and we’ll explore the very best of the Old Town, the New Town, and the coastal gems just beyond the city.

You’ll be travelling in either my luxury Mercedes V‑Class or BMW 7 Series, both designed to make the day feel effortless. Settle in, relax, and let me show you Edinburgh the way locals love it.

Edinburgh Castle

We begin at the iconic Edinburgh Castle, perched high on its volcanic rock. You’ll have time to explore the fortress, take in the views, and soak up centuries of Scottish history.

St Giles’ Cathedral

Next, we stop at St Giles’ Cathedral, the heart of the Royal Mile and one of the city’s most important historic buildings.

The Royal Mile

We’ll drive along the Royal Mile, a lively stretch filled with shops, cafés, street performers, and stories at every turn.

Holyrood Palace

At the foot of the Royal Mile sits Holyrood Palace, the King’s official residence in Scotland. You can explore the palace and its grounds at your own pace.

Calton Hill

Then it’s up to Calton Hill for panoramic views of Edinburgh’s skyline, the perfect spot for photos and a proper look at the city’s dramatic mix of old and new.

Scott Monument

We’ll pass the Scott Monument, a striking Gothic tribute to Sir Walter Scott and one of the most recognisable landmarks in the New Town.

Rosslyn Chapel

Leaving the city, we head to Rosslyn Chapel, famous for its ornate stonework, mysterious carvings, and the legends that surround it. It’s a fascinating place with a unique atmosphere.

East Lothian Coast

We finish with a scenic drive along the East Lothian coastline, visiting picturesque fishing villages, quiet harbours, and beautiful coastal views. Fresh seafood is optional but highly recommended.

Then we’ll make our way back to Edinburgh, rounding off a day filled with history, scenery, and plenty of great stories.

A wee note about flexibility

Nothing on this tour is set in stone. If you want to spend longer somewhere, skip a stop, add a detour, or grab a coffee with a view, just say. It’s your day, and I’m here to make it exactly what you want.
