FAQ'S

What airport do I fly into?

Juan Santamaría International Airport  in San Juan, Costa Rica  (Airport Code SJO)

Do I need to be vaccinated to travel to Costa Rica?

No, in terms of COVID - 19,  you don't need to be vaccinated to enter Costa Rica, yet non - vaccinated travelers will need travel insurance in order to enter the country. Once you book we provide our recommendations for the most comprehensive and affordable travel insurance.

There is nothing else required for entry when traveling to Costa Rica unless you are coming from South America or sub-Saharan Africa. In which case you must get a Yellow Fever vaccination at a minimum of 10 days before you travel. There are also some recommendations if you plan to travel to remote regions.

If you decide to get a vaccination as a precaution, please talk to your doctor. Usually, he or she will recommend you get the vaccination 2-3 weeks before you travel to Costa Rica.  Some travelers have asked whether they need malaria pills for exploring Costa Rica’s jungles.  Again, it is best to ask your doctor. You can also check out the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO)

Costa Rica Visa / Entry Requirements? Passports

A passport is required for entry in Costa Rica. For US and Canadian citizens, only a valid passport is necessary.  No prior Visa approval is required.  For non-US citizens, a Visa is sometimes required depending on where your citizenship is based. It is always a good idea to find out the current visa and entry requirements from your local Costa Rican Consulate. Once you enter Costa Rica, most visitors are given a 90-day tourist visa that is stamped in their passport. Make sure your passport is valid for the entire length of your stay.  Some foreign nationals of certain countries may be given a shorter visa, 30 or 60 days. Be sure not to overstay your welcome!

How does payment work?

To book we ask for a non- refundable $500 deposit, per person on our secure business PayPal account. This payment will be deducted from the full balance of your tour. We will provide you with a receipt for this initial payment.

Full payment is then made 60 days prior to  departure which will be on May, 11th  2022.

Do you need a COVID test to leave the country?

Yes. Soul Life Travel can assist with arranging onsite testing.

Is Costa Rica dangerous for tourists?

Despite the perception of Latin American countries being dangerous, Costa Rica remains a very safe, stable country. The most common crimes against tourists are pickpocketing and breaking into rental cars. You can certainly avoid being the victim of such crimes by not putting yourself in high-risk situations. The Caribbean side of Costa Rica has had the unfair reputation of being dangerous. This is steeped in racism and stereotypical ideas placed on areas with a large population of Afro - Indigenous people. Just like any place be smart and be responsible.

I'm traveling solo, what's the sleeping arrangement?

As solo travelers you have the option to sleep in a spacious room by yourself, provided you pay the single supplement fee of $361. If you'd like to share a room with a friend you will both sleep in separate twin beds. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom and patio.

How should I pack?

Keep it flowy and light, both in material and in your suitcases! You will be in the jungle so you want clothes with breathable material and that can dry easily. You do not need a lot of things. Closer to departure Soul Life Travel will provide you with a packing list.

Is the sun really intense in Costa Rica?

Being in a tropical climate, it can be easy to get sunburned or dehydrated. Don’t let that ruin your trip to Costa Rica! Make sure you use plenty of sunscreen (remember, we’re just 9 degrees above the equator!) and drink plenty of liquids so you stay healthy during your Costa Rica stay.

Do I have to participate in all the activities?

Some of the activities are included in your Tour Price and some are "Optional Activities"  which you have the choice to participate in or not.

Reviews

Carol Mason ( September 2021)

"The most memorable moment was when Sadie left me a beautiful note when I arrived at my first hotel. I literally almost cancels my trip due to the frustration of JetBlue canceling and delaying my flight. I appreciated that during that frustration time Sadie was there to listen and calm me down. Even though it was a small jester it made me feel seen and understood and I will be dry forget that moment. Chile I cried. That  moment will always stick with me."

Renee Jones ( October 2021)

We enjoyed a very personally and culturally memorable experience in Costa Rica overall- the Family Farm-to-Table Cooking Class, Bri Bri Community Tour, Waterfall, Cauhita, Birthday and Spa experiences were all fondly memorable.  Traveling during the rainy season has its blessings - and sometimes more heavily so!  Weather was sunny, warm most of the days we were there; however, on the night before we left Puerto Viejo to fly home, the heaviest of rains came pouring down for most of the night.  We were stranded downtown for more than an hour, as most of the tuk-tuks, ubers and taxi's were not running as a result of the rain.  While she could have left us to find our own way home and return to her friends and plans that evening, Sadie walked throughout downtown in the heavy pouring rain and slushy puddled streets to find us a taxi- and she did!  To me, this was really an above and beyond effort to ensure our comfort and timely return to our hotel.  She was quite selfless in this gesture and we were quite relieved when she arrived!

Karene Brodie (October 2021)

" Sadie- although you were not our guide, I really want to express how thoughtful you were throughout the trip!  You really made every day feel planned and supported; and your ability to pivot into alternative plans and options whenever necessary (especially the night it rained so heavy and we could not find our way to hotel!) was most appreciated.

Thank you Soul Life Travel- this was a great homecoming of sorts and I am grateful for the experiences, adventures, and celebrations!  All the best!  ."

Nikki Johnson ( November 2021)

REALLY liked arenal paraiso! The view with the volcano, the hot springs, the rooms -- everything was great. Sadie you were super responsive when issues did occur, and helped get  everything back on course the one time it was needed."

Toccara and Keith Justice (Dec 2021)

" Every hotel was amazing.  Hotel Presidente in San Jose was the best surprise because we weren't expecting much when we first arrived.  We were just tired from the long travel day at immigration.  Loved the tub there and Hotel Magic Mountain and the AMAZING view of the volcano!  Having the volcano as our backdrop was indescribable really. All activities ended up being better than we expected. Overall a great experience! Would love to do it again!"

Janet King ( Dec 2021)
