If you arrive in the evening, you'll spend your first night in the capital, Antananarivo (Tana), near the airport.
If you arrive in the morning, we'll meet you upon arrival and begin the journey to Antsirabe, where you'll spend your first night.
Depending on your traveling dates, this stage of the itinerary will include one or two nights in the charming city of Antsirabe.
From Antsirabe, a scenic drive of approx. 5 hours by bus will take us to our next stop: the charming town of Ambositra, renowned for its intricate woodcraft and traditional silk workshops.
We will then continue our journey to Fianarantsoa, where our experience with Agua de Coco begins.
This first encounter will offer an introduction to the NGO's work, an opportunity to meet some of the people involved in its programmes, and a deeper insight into Malagasy culture and daily life. We'll spend the night in a unique setting in Fianarantsoa.
Depending on our arrival time, we will visit the project either that afternoon or the following morning.
We'll spend the day exploring the local markets of Fianarantsoa, one of Madagascar's most important cities, before continuing on to the tea plantations and factory.
The journey will take us through beautiful rice paddies before we gather for a lakeside lunch and continue by bus to Ambalavao.
In Ambalavao, we'll visit local craft workshops and traditional zebu markets, while taking in the region's striking red-earth landscapes.
The two groups will then come together to explore the Anja Community Reserve, a place renowned for its rich wildlife and spectacular scenery. In the afternoon, we'll continue our journey towards Ranohira.
Isalo National Park will leave you speechless with its dramatic rock formations, natural pools, and unique wildlife. We'll spend the next two nights exploring this extraordinary landscape.
The journey takes us to the Sapphire School, a key highlight of this trip. Arriving in the evening, we will spend the night at the school itself, making for one of the most authentic and memorable experiences of the journey.
Following our night at the Sapphire School, we'll begin the day to the sound of children's laughter and the national anthem before exploring the region's remarkable sapphire mines. As evening falls, we'll make our way and reach Toliara, where the next chapter of the journey begins.
You've entered the heart of Agua de Coco's initiatives in Madagascar. Here we'll gain a closer understanding of both the NGO's inspiring achievements and the challenges that local communities continue to face.
Between the salt flats and visits to Agua de Coco's projects, the day will be filled with learning, meaningful encounters, and moments that invite reflection and a deeper connection to the purpose of this journey.
Having reached the coast, we'll spend time exploring Agua de Coco's environmental and agricultural projects, including its work in the mangroves, local plantations, and educational farm.
We will then continue to the beautiful beach of Mangily, where we'll bring our journey to a close at Agua de Coco's solidarity hotel, surrounded by the turquoise waters and laid-back atmosphere of Madagascar's southwest coast.
Mangily is the perfect place to unwind by the beach and discover the region through snorkelling, whale watching (depending on the season), and wandering through ancient baobab forests.
We'll set off early in the morning for Toliara Airport, located around 30 minutes away. From there, we'll fly to Antananarivo (Tana), where we'll catch our afternoon flight home.
