Essential Cape Peninsula Tour

The Cape Peninsula is an iconic natural landmark in Cape Town. It’s a dramatic rocky peninsula that extends 30 kilometers from Table Mountain on the northern end to the southernmost tip of Cape Town.

The peninsula falls within the Table Mountain National Park which is world-renowned for its incredible biodiversity.

The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve spreads out over the rocky headland. It’s a protected nature reserve and home to an array of antelope, the rare Cape mountain zebra, and other unique animal species. It’s also a haven for marine birds, with 250 recorded bird species found in the reserve.

Cape Point is the very pointy end of the Cape Peninsula. It’s an instantly-recognized landmark and is often mistaken for Africa’s southernmost tip. Two national heritage monuments on Cape Point were built to honor the world’s most famous explorers: Vasco da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias (the first European explorer to round Cape Point in 1488).

Splendor in the Winelands Tour

Ah, the winelands – open spaces, flowering vines, historic estates and enough vino to sink an actual ship. Touring one of the most stunning areas of the Cape is a must for any visitor to Cape Town’s shores and our Splendour in the Winelands tour will take you on an unforgettable trip straight to wine heaven.

Welcome to our Cape Town Winelands tour, where you’ll discover the best of South African wine country. Our journey begins at a wine farm renowned for its picturesque gardens, organic produce, and status as one of the most Instagram-worthy destinations in the country. You’ll have the opportunity to indulge in locally produced meats and cheeses while sampling the estate’s top wines. The farm’s 3.5-hectare garden, featuring flora and fauna from around the world, and their signature woven basket-chairs nestled in the lush green hedges, are not to be missed.

As the French say, “there’s nothing better than an aged wine, except perhaps an aged cheese.” At our next stop, we take this adage to heart, offering a cheese pairing that would make even Napoleon weep with joy. This venue, known for its French proprietors and their passion for producing exceptional wine, is the perfect place to savor a variety of exquisite cheeses. However, we understand that not everyone is a fan of cheese, which is why we also offer a traditional biltong pairing as an alternative.

By the third stop, you’ll be full of wine and happier than a fish in water, or wine as the case may be. Stop three, you’ll be delighted to know, is the lunch stop. Known for their delicatessen of delectable deliciousness, the venue for lunch embodies GT Ferreira’s popular belief that good food, wine and art come together to make a perfect lifestyle. The deli’s menu changes seasonally and features the very best in locally grown, ethically-farmed and produced ingredients.

As any day draws to an end, we always reach for the chocolate, so why should a day of wine-tasting be any different? The final stop on the Splendour in the Winelands tour is a wine and chocolate pairing like no other. The estate’s resident winemaker teamed up with a local Chocolatier, Richard von Geusau, to develop a selection of milk and dark chocolates that pair perfectly with the estate’s Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and naturally sweet wines.

Ostrich Ranch Tour

You, sitting on an ostrich, with Table Mountain as your backdrop.

One of the best photo ops in Cape Town!

And our guides make it so safe even a baby can do it.

Our small but perfectly formed Tom Thumb is a bit of a big deal...we sadly lost him on the 17th of September 2018 when he passes away.

He held the official Guinness Book of Records for the world's smallest ostrich! Ask your guide about him.

Get up as close as you dare with our native African birds...we'll supply their snack!

Seriously, you can stand on an ostrich egg! But you have to do the tour to learn why it doesn't break...

Depending on when you visit, you'll see tiny hatchlings or strutting teenagers. Maybe you'll even see a baby bird hatch!

Not only will our amazing team of guides lead you on an informative journey, but we’ve also got a museum too.  All the answers to questions you never even knew you had...

We're not just about the big birds. Check out our crocodiles, tortoises, peacocks’ cheetahs too.

Let’s GO Seal Snorkeling!!

You will be visiting Duiker Island, Hout Bay, South Africa. It’s a small rocky island that is home to 5000 Cape Fur seals. We run trips from August to June, but trips are weather dependent. The snorkeling site is only 1-5m deep so we don’t go out if the swell is too large. No experience is needed and we provide everything you need. We use think 5mm wetsuits and vests to keep you warm. Motion sickness is a problem for some people, so please be aware of this. You will get changed at our offices and driven to the boat inside the harbor, from here it’s a short ride to the island. You will snorkel for 30-40 mins, enjoying the kelp forest and Cape fur seals. Once our done, there is hot chocolate and biscuits for you on the boat. and return for a hot shower at our snorkel center.

Animal Ocean are the seal snorkeling experts and are dedicated to getting you in the water with these fantastic creatures.
Our enthusiastic owner and zoologist, Steve Benjamin, together with his team of marine guides, are only too keen to share the beauty of the ocean and its most playful mammals with you.

Our 8m Rib (inflatable boats) take up to 10 snorkelers and will get you to the seals quickly and safely. Fur seals are most active and abundant in the heat of Cape Town's summer.

Trips depend on weather and ocean conditions. We aim to inform snorkelers if their trip is canceled 24 hours before your arrival time. However, we will cancel on the day if the ocean conditions are not safe to snorkel. We will refund in full, but they do take a while to process, please be patient. If you are concerned, please call us a day or two before to check the ocean conditions and if trips may be canceled.

The Cape Fur seals

Cape Fur seals occur naturally on islands around the southern African coast and are found nowhere else in the world. Duiker Island in Hout Bay is home to 5000 Cape Fur seals and lies within the Karbonkelberg Marine Protected Area, part of Table Mountain National Park. These Fur seals are not fed or trained, they behave naturally and interact with visitors on their own terms. This is a wildlife adventure that brings you nose-to-nose with playful and inquisitive wild animals in their natural habitat and affords you the privilege of viewing them on their own terms.
