Kenya is an amazing place, and it's capital city, Nairobi is like none other. In the middle of this suburban city, you will find a national park (home to four of the Big Five) within sight of city skyscrapers. The park, almost completely encircled by human settlements, is an important refuge for the endangered black rhino, and all three big cats and abundant birdlife. There is also an elephant orphanage, a nearby giraffe center where you can spend time with the animals feeding them and enjoying their great splendor. There are also many great restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.
Not to be missed, is the Masai Mara, which is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the planet. It's an amazing sight to behold anytime of the year, but from July to October, the Mara’s plains and rivers are flooded with over a milllion wildebeest on their great migration, along with herds of zebras, elephants and giraffes. You will also find an abundance of lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and crocs. If you only visit one place in Kenya, it should definitely be the Mara.
One of our hidden gems that you should definitely include in your visit is Kenya’s coast, which is one of Africa’s most beautiful shores and Watamu is my favorite and the most beautiful, although most people flock to the more popular, Diani. Watamu boasts of long stretches of white sand, translucent waters and coves sheltered by palm trees. There are plenty of water sports (from fishing to windsurfing). This is one of those places you will want to return to over and over again.
Today will be a busy but amazing day. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to Giraffe Center, Elephant Orphanage, Bomas of Kenya with a special lunch treat at a secret location. Dinner will be held at the beautiful restaurant in the area as your wrap up your day.
