Before You Go

WEATHER:
After the rainy season is over, the month of April is considered the best time to go, allowing the best views, flowering meadows, blue sky and relatively warm weather during the day and not very cold at night.

The altitudes range from 2,840m/9300feet to 5,545m/18192feet. Day/night air temperatures vary significantly. Normally the mornings are warm, and walking in T-shirts is pleasant. But if the afternoon is cloudy, the temperature can drop to just above freezing with the possibility of snow. At night, up high, it will definitely drop below freezing.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: ACTIVE, CHALLENGING
You need to be fit – a hill-walker, someone who takes regular exercise. Expect hiking up and downhill 4-8 hours daily at the high altitudes. Trekking can be difficult in parts, but within the capabilities of any healthy person with an established level of walking fitness. Often endurance and the right positive mindset helps. Walk at your own pace – slow and steady is the way to go. Remember, this is not a competition or race. Being fit is not the primary control here, it is how you deal with altitude. Additional days of stay at the high altitudes are included to ensure the adequate acclimatization.

WHAT YOU CARRY:
You carry only your personal daypack (25-28L) – a light backpack for the daily trekking needs (water flask, camera, energy bars, sunscreen, additional layer - jacket). Porters will carry your luggage in a duffel bag (total weight of your luggage up to 12Kg)

Amazing experience! I totally recommend this for everyone!
What a great trip! Karina was the best! Even though we did not stay at the Four Seasons Hotels, but the service was far more superior than Four Seasons. Thank you, Karina!

This trip was an incredible experience. Hiking at high altitude was difficult for me but it was a worthwhile experience. We had two awesome guides with us who were very knowledgeable and kept us motivated every step of the way. Machu Picchu views felt way better after hiking there all the way. This was once in a lifetime opportunity and I highly recommend this trip. The food and lodging was amazing too. I am a vegetarian and they took care of it very well. Karina was always available to answer our questions. She provided us complete list of what we would need for the trip and that was pretty helpful. Thank you Karina!

That was an awesome trip. What I liked most: - everything is taken care of for you: tickets, accommodation, transport, schedule - food: amazing fresh food at campsites and hotels - guides: knowledgable and experienced local guides who know history and are always available for any question/issues - program: different hikes, city tours, bus tours (visiting important inkan sites and other historically important places) Also, thanks Karina for being available 24/7 and resolving all questions

What an amazing unforgettable Journey! The tranquility of the mountains, the immense beauty and peace experienced during the hike was surreal. Blessed to meet an amazing group of people so caring and friendly-- to a new found friendship!! Karina did a fantastic job putting together the tour with just the right amount of hiking. So much care and attention were given to make us comfortable during the hike. Being a vegetarian and wheat resistance the chefs took the utmost care of my diet. From the hot water in the morning to the hot water bottles at night during our hike every detail was meticulous. Our guides were so motivating and supportive-- they got us through this amazing experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking an adventure. Karina is super responsive. I say go for it!!! Go Safrika travels--thank you for everything!!!
