About this trip

Join our trekking expedition in Nepal to the foot of Everest, the highest mountain in the world!

National Geographic traveler magazine featured this route as, “the adventure of a lifetime,” and, “the world's best mountain scenery”

You will explore most representative spots of the Everest region, snow-capped Himalayan peaks, flowering meadows, mountain rivers and valleys. You will go along trails marked with Buddhist prayers and sacred stones, discover ancient monasteries and learn about the local sherpa culture. You will stay overnight in the simple, clean tea-houses (lodges) run by local families, and taste the hearty Nepalese food. From the summit of Kala Pattar you will admire the first rays of sunrise over Mighty Everest.

Before You Go

WEATHER CONDITIONS IN OCTOBER:
After the rainy season is over, the month of October is considered the best time to go, allowing the best views, blue sky and relatively warm weather during the day and not very cold at night.

The altitudes range from 2,840m/9300feet to 5,545m/18192feet. Temperatures vary significantly. Normally the mornings are warm, and walking in T-shirts is pleasant. But if the afternoon is cloudy, the temperature can drop to just above freezing with the possibility of snow. At night, up high, it will definitely drop below freezing.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: ACTIVE, CHALLENGING
You need to be reasonably fit – a hill-walker, someone who takes regular exercise. Expect hiking up and downhill 4-8 hours daily at the high altitudes. Trekking can be difficult in parts, but within the capabilities of any healthy person with an established level of walking fitness. Often stubbornness (endurance) helps. Walk at your own pace – slow and steady is the way to go – being fit or unfit is not the primary control here, it is how you deal with altitude. Additional days of stay at the high altitudes are included to ensure the adequate acclimatization.

WHAT YOU CARRY:
You carry only your personal stuff – a light backpack for the daily trekking needs (water flask, camera, chocolate bars, jacket/ fleece sweater for the climate change). Porters will carry your trekking gear.

I'm originally from Moscow (Russia) and I reside in San Francisco bay area since 2012 . I'm registered as official seller of travel in CA. Before moving to United States I lived 4 years in Ecuador and Colombia, where I dedicated myself to traveling and worked as a travel guide. Later, I opened my local tour operator agency in Quito (Ecuador). But my passion for tourism started long time before that, in my hometown, when in 2006 I decided to quit my comfortable and well-paid office job in search for adventure. I joined a Traveler Club, where we created exclusive expeditions around the Globe with well-known leaders of Russian Geographic society. Having 10 years of expertise in adventure tourism, I could build an exceptional and reliable team of guides and partners in every destination I work. All connections are proven by years of successful cooperation. But no matter how many years I’ve been in the industry, I’m a constant student of the best practices and always ready to adapt new ways of creating the best travel adventures for you! Let's connect and go travel together! My favorite travel experiences: - Hiking the "Avenue of volcanoes" in Ecuador - See the sunrise over Machu Picchu - Dancing with locals at Latin American festivals - Everest Base camp trek, Nepal - Snorkeling with lea lions and iguanas at Galapagos

Short version: great trip, do it with Karina for the ultimate experience. Longer version: Both my wife and I are avid travelers and don't trust our vacations to anyone lightly. We did good trips with REI and Active Adventures in the past, so we were on the fence about this one. But once we met Karina in person, we were completely sold by her knowledge of the area and its culture as well as Karina's outpouring positive energy. All the communication during the preparation was timely and informative. The hiking guide operators were excellent. All transitions between hikes and hotels were problem free. The food was better than expected. It also helps to have good like-minded group members and that's where we got really lucky. Already miss my new friends! But again, kudos to Karina as good leaders attract good people.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Visiting Peru was a huge dream of mine for quite some time and I was thrilled to join this tour. Simply Flawless experience all the way! From the moment I called Karina (Safarika Travel) to get more information about the tour till the moment I returned home, exhausted but so-so happy and full of incredible emotions and precious memories! Amazing-amazing time! Usually I plan and organize my own trips, joining a group tour was a new thing for me, exciting yet unknown. What a great decision I’ve made! Not for a single moment I had any doubts about Karina’s professionalism. Not even once throughout the trip I have looked at any of my flight/transportation details or hotel bookings. Karina was on top of everything! Always very caring and kind, informative and professional. Karina provided us with all the necessary information way in advance before the trip and while we were on the journey. Everything was very well organized. We were only responsible for enjoying Peru and ourselves! What’s even more, Karina was able to gather a great group of like-minded and very interesting people who became a vital part of this fantastic experience. It was so hard to say our Good Byes. Truly blessed with this trip and hope to be able to join Karina in her many other wonderful adventures.

Travel is about new experiences, mesmerizing vistas, incredible new friends, rewarding challenges, and just ... fun. All that and much more was in the Karina's trip to Peru. Karina's planning and organizational skills are exceptional. Her professionalism and knowledge can please anyone. Peru is amazingly beautiful and so versatile country that eight days are not enough to cover it all, but with Karina I got the flavor of the country and know for sure I will be back someday. If you are longing for breathtaking views, interesting people and experiences, challenging summits, uplifting energy, and gourmet food - that trip is for you!
