About this trip

Join our trekking expedition in Nepal to the foot of Everest, the highest mountain in the world!

National Geographic traveler magazine featured this route as, “the adventure of a lifetime,” and, “the world's best mountain scenery”

You will explore most representative spots of the Everest region, snow-capped Himalayan peaks, flowering meadows, mountain rivers and valleys. You will go along trails marked with Buddhist prayers and sacred stones, discover ancient monasteries and learn about the local sherpa culture. You will stay overnight in the simple, clean tea-houses (lodges) run by local families, and taste the hearty Nepalese food. From the summit of Kala Pattar you will admire the first rays of sunrise over Mighty Everest.

This trip will definitely be one of the most significant self-accomplishments and travel experiences of your life!

Before You Go

WEATHER CONDITIONS IN OCTOBER:
After the rainy season is over, the month of October is considered the best time to go, allowing the best views, blue sky and relatively warm weather during the day and not very cold at night.

The altitudes range from 2,840m/9300feet to 5,545m/18192feet. Temperatures vary significantly. Normally the mornings are warm, and walking in T-shirts is pleasant. But if the afternoon is cloudy, the temperature can drop to just above freezing with the possibility of snow. At night, up high, it will definitely drop below freezing.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: ACTIVE, CHALLENGING
You need to be reasonably fit – a hill-walker, someone who takes regular exercise. Expect hiking up and downhill 4-8 hours daily at the high altitudes. Trekking can be difficult in parts, but within the capabilities of any healthy person with an established level of walking fitness. Often stubbornness (endurance) helps. Walk at your own pace – slow and steady is the way to go – being fit or unfit is not the primary control here, it is how you deal with altitude. Additional days of stay at the high altitudes are included to ensure the adequate acclimatization.

WHAT YOU CARRY:
You carry only your personal stuff – a light backpack for the daily trekking needs (water flask, camera, chocolate bars, jacket/ fleece sweater for the climate change). Porters will carry your trekking gear.

This was truly amazing experience! I was a part of a small group of 8 experienced hikers, and Katya have taken us to the beautiful trails that were not crowded but with fantastic views and terrains. The sleeping accommodations were comfortable and we had the most delicious food and wine experiences! I highly recommend this company to anyone who loves hiking in nature! Thank you!

Friendly guide who has expertise in geology, a good mix of popular and less traveled points. The trip was well planned and time was used efficiently without creating a sense of rush. An eclectic group of co-travelers added to the experience. Hot springs were amazing and so was the stake & beer place in the desert. thank you for the great experience!

Exploring Death Valley was truly one of a kind experience for me. Our guide Katya is very knowledgeable and passionate about this area, her itinerary was very well thought out and planned to share with us highlights and off beaten path gems of Death Valley and adjacent Amargosa Valley! One awe-inspiring view after another! Great mix of hiking, nature seeing and cultural/ historical sightseeing. Fun and educational. Great handling of logistics. This trip definitely exceeded my expectations.

I am so glad we did this trip. Katya is an awesome guide with great knowledge of DV. She took us to places we probably won’t get to on our own. She kept everything very well organized and easy to follow. We really enjoyed our time and made a lot of great memories. This is my second trip and definitely not the last.

One of the best trips I've done! I traveled with Karina to Patagonia in 2020 and it was awesome! Perfect planning & organization throughout the trip, including dealing with the unexpected (e.g. lost luggage). I really liked other folks in the group and made several new friends in this trip. I highly recommend Karina's trips to casual and semi-serious hikers, and plan to be a return customer myself.
