What began as a “party with a purpose” in 1995, has since become this iconic annual music “Festival of Culture,” aimed at uplifting and celebrating the African American community. It is the largest African American culture and music event in the United States and every Fourth of July Weekend, attendees have the opportunities to engage in panel discussions, meet-and-greets, activities, shopping, and of course, nonstop live music featuring some of the best artists in R&B, soul, funk, gospel, and hip-hop as well as, other famous celebrity's in the entertainment industry.

Well-known artists in hip-hop, R&B, soul and pop will descend upon the Crescent City for this year’s Essence Festival of Culture. The multi-day event at the Superdome kicks off with comedian Kevin Hart and presents a music program featuring Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, New Edition, The Isley Brothers, Jazmine Sullivan, Beenie Man and several others.
