Life aboard Moondance
We’ll spend the week aboard Moondance, a 56-foot expedition sailboat that brings you closer to Norway’s coastal wilds.
Accommodations
We’ll kick off our journey in the quiet fishing village of Øksfjord, staying in a private apartment with shared double rooms and a shared bathroom.
Local transport
We’ve got all your transportation covered, including pick-ups and drop-offs at the airport.
Expert guidance
This trip will be led by an experienced IFMGA-certified guide, ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the journey.
Sailing
Drift across Arctic fjords on a sturdy expedition sailboat, soaking in dramatic landscapes and tranquil waters.
Skiing & splitboarding
Skin up Norway’s remote peaks by foot, then carve fresh tracks down pristine slopes—trekking wild, peaceful backcountry far from the crowds.
All-inclusive meals

Your journey to us
You’ll need to book your own flights to and from Alta Airport (ALF) in Norway.
Extended stays
Any extra nights at the hotel outside the trip dates will be at your own expense.
Extra alcoholic drinks
Each dinner includes a drink on us. Due to our remote location, extra alcoholic drinks aren’t provided—but you’re welcome to bring your own to enjoy.
Personal expenses
Personal expenses like souvenirs and some alcoholic beverages aren’t included in the package.
Gratuities
Tipping your guides is up to your discretion.
Travel insurance
Guests must have travel insurance covering helicopter Medevac and SAR. Important: A copy of your insurance certificate must be submitted to us before your trip begins.

Arrive in Alta and settle into Øksfjord
After your early afternoon arrival, we’ll drive two hours (depending on weather conditions) north to Øksfjord. As we travel along the inner coastline, you’ll get your first glimpse of Norway’s pristine Arctic waters—a small preview of the adventure ahead. Once there, we’ll settle into a cosy bed and breakfast before meeting our guides and the Moondance crew. In the evening, we’ll share drinks and gather for a welcome dinner to kick off our journey.

Sail into the fjord and summit on skis
We’ll start our day with breakfast, then head down to Moondance—our expedition sailing boat and home for the week. On board, we’ll get to know the vessel and the crew during a safety briefing before we set course across the fjord to Tverrfjorddalen. Once anchored, a zodiac (a motor-powered inflatable boat) will take us ashore for your first skiing and splitboarding tour in a stunning glacial valley, celebrated for its deep snow and dramatic terrain.

We’ll have some time to explore the land after lunch, but as the day winds down, we’ll sail onward. If the weather’s in our favour, your guide may suggest a glacier crossing of Øksfjordjøkelen, with a thrilling descent into Nuvsfjorden, where Moondance will meet us—giving us a taste of what the region has to offer.

Explore Finnmark’s ice-carved landscapes
Once you’ve found your rhythm, each day brings a new opportunity to chase the best snow Finnmark has to offer. With fjords, peaks and islands stretching in every direction, the region delivers an endless mix of terrain. Ullsfjord, Nuvsvåg, Stjernøya, Frakkfjord and Elliassen are just a few of the legendary fjords that might shape our route.

If you enjoy maps and navigation, join your guides and the ship crew for route-planning sessions in the mornings and evenings. These are open to all—feel free to ask questions and get a behind-the-scenes look at how we craft the perfect day, on sea and snow.

Take one last turn on the slopes
On our final full day, we’ll cruise to Stjernøya—Star Island—for one last round of exhilarating mountaintop runs. Expect incredible views as we explore peaks like Kjerringa and Eliasen, known for their rugged terrain and serene beauty. After our last descent, we’ll board Moondance and set course for Øksfjord, returning to where our journey began. Our onboard chef will greet us with a celebratory farewell dinner, marking the end of an unforgettable Arctic adventure.

I recently returned from the KME Ski Tour, Dog Sled and Fat Tire bike trip in Finnmark. It was an amazing experience in a stunningly beautiful part of the world hosted by the best team. It was the first trip for this group (KME and the guests) and everything was executed perfectly. The hosts and local guides were kind, extremely knowledgeable and wonderful to be around. The setting is beyond breathtaking and the itinerary allows you to feel very connected to the area and the locals. The ski touring was insane-take your breath away beauty at all times. I would highly recommend a KME trip for anyone who loves authentic active adventure. I can't wait for my next trip with this exceptional team!

Special is how I would describe this trip! Super cool and massively remote location. Lots of tough weather which made the trip more dynamic than planned but the team did a great job adapting and ultimately created a great experience for guests. Really expert guide work by the expedition leaders, which was made all the more challenging by the conditions. Grateful to them for the knowledge and leadership the displayed. The hospitality was warm and welcoming. The food and drink plentiful and delicious. The professionalism and comms before, during and after the trip were great.

I had a wonderful experience traveling to Norway with Klattermusen Experiences in January 2025. It was one of my most memorable trips. This team is one of the most hospitable , accommodating, efficient teams I’ve ever had the pleasure of traveling with. They anticipated our needs, and by the end of the trip they made us feel like family. They also did a great job of making sure we were clear on the activities for the week and answered any questions to make sure we felt comfortable. They were also very accommodating to my level of comfort with certain activities. I wasn’t comfortable with riding the fat bikes so Yahnny Stayed with me to help me relearn how to ride a bike and make sure that I was safe and still able to enjoy the experience while the more advanced group went ahead. I would not hesitate to join Klattermusen experiences for another tour.

My most memorable moment? There were many! But there was something so profoundly and simply beautiful and emblematic of the experience in the moment we stopped at the bottom of a hill, just past a mesmerizing lake, and Erik 2 foraged tiny, incredibly sweet wild strawberries from the roadside, skewered them on a twig, and handed them to me as a treat. We were really feeling the effort at that point in the ride, and this small moment of respite—punctuated by a) local, foraged, seasonal fruit that symbolizes Midsommar and b) the deep local knowledge and natural, easygoing care of the crew—felt almost spiritual and totally magical. We truly wanted for nothing on this adventure; all was provided by either nature or your team.
