Get ready to discover the exciting Panama City and to start exploring the Afro-Panamanian history & culture! After a reinvigorating breakfast at the hotel, we will take our private transport to the main historical sites of the city. We will start with a Walking Tour at the neighborhood of Casco Viejo, followed by a visit to  the Afro-Caribbean Museum and a talk with Mr. Ramirez (Afro-Panamanian specialist). During these activities will learn about the ancient Indigenous peoples that inhabited the territory prior to the Spanish conquest, about the experience of slavery and resistance of African populations in the Americas, and will understand why Afro-Panamanians differentiate themselves between Afro-Coloniales and Afro-Caribbeans.  

Around 1pm, will enjoy a delicious meal with farm to table lunch options and we will end the day with an excursion at the Panama Canal (Miraflores Lock).  At night, we offer you the option to have a tasteful dinner at the Wharf Fish Market, where we will have our first opportunity to party like a local!

Get ready to discover the Panamanian Atlantic coast! After breakfast at the hotel, we will leave Panama City, in the Pacific coast of Panama, and will take our private transport to the Atlantic town of Portobelo. There we will do a Walking Tour, visit the Church of the Black Christ the Old Customs Museum. Afterwords, we will delight in the local Afro-Colonial cuisine (optional lunch) and will go to the Ritmo Music School for Kids, where we will enjoy live presentations and have a chance to learn how to play African drums! In the evening, you will have free time to explore the town on your own. This is the perfect opportunity to relax at the Portobelo hotel, where we will spend the night, and/ or shop for local handicraft and souvenirs! If you want to join us for dinner and party (optional), we will take you to a fish restaurant and to a local bar, for drinks and exciting Afro-Latino music!

Wake up to your revitalizing breakfast at the Portobelo's hotel and get on board  our train excursion that will take us to the city of Colón. There we will do a Walking Tour and will go to the San Lorenzo Fort. At lunch, we welcome you to join us for an optional Afro-Caribbean meal, infused with fresh coconut milk and delights from the see. Afterwards, we will visit the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal (Gatun Locks), take the train back to Portobelo and, from there, take our private transport back to Panama City. As usual, we will offer you a dinner and party option to finish  the day as an Afro-Panamanian pro!

This is the date we have all been waiting for: Panamanian official annual day to value and celebrate its African inheritance! We will be fully immersed in the activities of the Etnia Negra Day. Right after our breakfast at the hotel.  we will attend dance and music presentations throughout the city and will have the option to taste the wonders of Afro-Panamanian gastronomy during lunch and dinner. In the evening, we will attend lectures with local Black intellectuals, activists and artists, before heading out for an optional party excursion, to one of the most exciting bars at the Black suburbs! 

What better than to give back, after having so much fun with Afro-Panamanians, experience their vibrant life-stile and learning about their rich culture? That is why we dedicate a full day of our trip to support local Black social activities! As usual, we will start our day with our breakfast at the hotel. Afterwords, we will visit the Mulambo Home for Kids, have a talk with the black social workers and play with the children that live there. 

We welcome you to join us in (1) our collective donation of supplies for Mulambo and invite you to join us for (2) lunch and a (3) volunteer experience there or in a local Black farm in the afternoon. If you would rather not participate in one (or all) of these three optional activities, you will be free during the afternoon and we will be happy to give you great suggestions about beautiful touristic sites to go, restaurants to eat, places to shop or any additional activity that you may be interested on. 

At night, we will have our final optional dinner and party excursion! 

All good things in life eventually come to an end, and this trip is no exception, unfortunately. After 6 awesome days together, it is time for us to say goodbye... Or see you later!

During the last breakfast of our tour, we will have a quick chat about how the trip went and give you the instructions about how to get to the airport, continue exploring Panama on your own, extend your stay in Panama City for a longer Volunteer experience or join us in our Add-on trip to the Indigenous Kuna Yala Islands.  There, you can explore some of the 365 gorgeous Caribbean islands that form their independent territory, while staying at a community owned hotel.
