07am : Phase 1: Helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla 40mno

07am: Phase 1: Helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Flight time: 40 minutes Distance: 138 km Altitude: 2,860 meters Purpose: Refueling and fight briefing Pre flight briefing in Kathmandu airport Our representative will be at the hotel you'll stay in Kathmandu to pick you up and drop you at the airport. Once you reach the airport, the flight representative will give you insights into the guidelines you must follow throughout the flight and introduce you to the pilot. Once the pilot gives you the flight briefing and weather update, you'll prepare for the flight. Generally, Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour starts in the early morning, around 6:30 am to 7 am. Once the pilot confirms the weather and gets a green signal for flight, your flight starts. But, if the weather on flight routes like Lukla airport or en route to Lukla or Namche is terrible, the flight may get delayed or postponed. We'll make all the arrangements in such cases and fly you on the next departure. Kathmandu to Lukla Flight As the helicopter lifts off from Kathmandu airport, you'll get a glimpse of the beautiful Kathmandu Valley and surrounding hilltops. You'll also get some glimpses of the mountains of the Langtang range, like Dorje Lhakpa, Langtang Lirung, Jugal Himal, and a few others. You'll see the rural settlements, terrace farming, lush forests, and beautiful outlook between Kathmandu and Lukla. The beautiful mountains of the Everest range also appear when the helicopter nears Lukla airport. On a clear weather day, you'll get the best glimpses of Everest and other mountains from the aircraft. The helicopter you're in stops at Lukla airport for 15 minutes for refueling and flight checks. In the meantime, you can enjoy the panorama around Lukla and take photographs and videos of helicopter and plane takeoffs and landings.

08am : Phase 2: Helicopter flight from Lukla to Pheriche

08am: Phase 2: Helicopter flight from Lukla to Pheriche Flight time: 20 minutes Distance: 25 km Altitude: 4,371 meters Purpose: Helicopter weight regulation guideline & refueling After flying from Lukla, the helicopter soars over beautiful Sherpa settlements like Phakding, ToTok, Monjo, Jorsale, Namche, Tengboche, and Dingboche and lands at Pheriche. You'll also fly over serene semi-alpine forests, cascading Dudh Koshi River, and towering mountains. Till Namche, you won't get any glimpses of mountains. But past Namche, you'll see the Everest panorama, Ama Dablam, Tawoche, and Khumbila. The helicopter flies next to Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru past Namche. As you fly above Pangboche and Dingboche, you'll witness Cholatse, Island Peak, and Makalu from the helicopter. If you're in a group joining Everest Helicopter Tour with landing at Kala Patthar, you may need to wait for your turn for helicopter pickup. Helicopters usually stop at Pheriche to comply with weight limit regulations. It can't carry three people past Pheriche as the air pressure drops, and the aircraft can't operate to its peak carrying capacity. With your turn, you'll fly to Kala Patthar from Pheriche for 20 minutes.

8:30am : Phase 3: Helicopter flight from Pheriche to Kala Patthar

8:30am: Flight time: 15 minutes Distance: 19 km Altitude: 5,644 meters Purpose: 5 minutes sightseeing stop After you board the helicopter from Pheriche, you'll fly over Thugla, Thugla Pass, Lobuche Memorial, and Lobuche settlement. Mt. Pumori and Khumbu glaciers appear a few kilometers ahead of the helicopter. And as you fly near the base camp and Kala Patthar, you'll see countless glaciers and small glacier lakes. Changatse, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and the Ridge to China appears awe-striking as the helicopter approaches Kala Patthar. But before landing at Kala Patthar, a helicopter flies over Everest expedition Camp I, near Camp II, and also gives you glimpses of Camp III. The aircraft then flies over Khumbu glacier blocks and lands at Kala Patthar. Helicopter lands at the Kala Patthar viewpoint for five minutes, which gives you an ideal window for a photograph session. Your pilot assists you in taking photographs and videos.

09am : Phase 4: Helicopter flight from Kala Patthar to Hotel Everest View

09am: Flight time: 20-25 minutes Distance: 20.7 km Altitude: 3,880 meters Purpose: Breakfast & sightseeing After landing and sightseeing at Kala Patthar, it's time to fly to Hotel Everest View for breakfast. The helicopter takes 20 minutes from Kala Patthar to land at Hotel Everest View, Syangboche, at 3,880 meters. While flying back, you'll fly above Lobuche, Pheriche, Dingboche, Tengboche, Khumjung, and to the hotel. Hotel Everest View is also a viewpoint on the Everest region from where you'll get glimpses of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde Ri, Khumbila, Kusum Kanguru, and more. With a breakfast break of 30 minutes, it's time to fly back to Lukla for refueling.

9:40am: Flight Time: 5 minutes Distance: 14.6 km Altitude: 2,860 meters Purpose: Refueling Upon reaching Lukla from Hotel Everest View after 5 minutes, the helicopter stops here for 10-15 minutes for refueling. In the meantime, you can drink tea or coffee in the cafeteria section at the helicopter's terminal. You can also spend this time spotting planes and helicopters landing and taking off from Lukla airport.

The expected flight time from Lukla to Kathmandu is 40 minutes. This flight gets scenic as the helicopter gains some altitude from Lukla airport. The aircraft gives you the final glimpses of the Everest region mountains. As the helicopter flies over Kathmandu, you'll get aerial glimpses of the entire valley. If you're on this early spring tour, you'll see the yellow blankets of mustard farmlands around the valley. Also, you'll get an aerial glimpse of Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa before landing at Kathmandu airport.
