We will be moved to the airport for a 35-45 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This small flight is majestic and thrilling itself with the beauties of mountain peaks and starting from Kathmandu rooftops. After our arrival upon Lukla (2860m), we will meet our other team members. The same day we start trekking for the Phakding village. The trek lasts for 3-4 hours, and we witness the sacred mountain Khumbila(5751m) from the town Cheplung, we come across Dudh Koshi river, and a gradual walk leads us to Phakding village. From Phakding village, we can have a sight of Kusum Kangraru Mountain. The town in the north valley of Lukla has several quality lodges, hotels and guest houses for tourist and trekkers. We will stay there for the night and the day after, continue our expedition. 

We will start heading towards Namche Bazaar just after our breakfast. This is the day we become evident of the promising exquisiteness of the mountains. We pass along lovely pine forests and revealed land. Cross a steel suspension bridge up above the glacial river, Dudh Koshi. Also trek along Bhote Koshi, a sister of the Koshi family. As we embark on our journey, mountains like Mt. Nupla (5885m), Kongde Ri (6093m) rise to give us a sight of themselves. Furthermore, we cross Kusum khola and witness Mt. Kusum Kangraru to the east, head of the valley. We come across some fields of donkeys and yaks loaded with trekking gear and trading goods.

If you haven’t seen the Mani stones, you’re about to be introduced to the holy mantra of Buddhist and Brahmins, “Om Mani Padme Hum” which translates to “Hail to the jewel in the lotus”. We also have a sight of Mt. Thamserku (6808m) at a turn of the trail. As we cross the Monjo pass, we enter the Sagarmatha National Park where we look forward to rich vegetation, wildlife like red pandas, yaks etc. Then we commence our ascent to the Sherpa Capital, Namche Bazaar. The most important section of trade for the Tibetans and Sherpas living around the valley. If the weather is fine and we are lucky enough, we might catch our first glimpse of the almighty Mt. Everest. This is an adventure trek, breath taking and rewarding as well. But this is just the forestage of what is to come. We will take rest, relax ourselves and stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.

This day, we will spend to acclimatize for the thinning air. However, there are plenty of things we can do in Namche Bazaar. Our guides can escort you to the museum where you can catch an idea of traditional Sherpa life. We can trek up to Syangboche and the Everest View Hotel which is located at the highest altitude in the world. It provides with a glimpse of mountains like Everest and many others. Similarly, if we hike along Sagarmatha National Park, we can catch a sunrise view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and many more. We can also catch a panoramic view of the Namche village from up the hill from Syangboche. In the evening, we can roam around the colorful Namche Bazaar to catch a bargain. A tea or coffee in Namche Bazaar is considered the most important thing to do so we set the morning and evening cups with us.

As we head towards Tengboche this day, this journey is full of unobstructed scenes consisting Himalayas like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and others. We descend along the famous Dudh Koshi River and ascend along with the equally vibrant forests covered by Rhododendron Trees in Tengboche. We continue our trail along various Sherpa Villages and take a sneak peek at their culture and lifestyle. Tengboche village is also well known for the largest monastery in the region, Tengboche Monastery. It is a spiritual hub for the people from the Khumbu region. It is surrounded by beautiful forests and holds great significance to the Sherpas. We will stay in Tengboche for the night.

This morning, we begin our descent towards Dingboche from Tengboche. We’re still accompanied by the majestic Himalayas and scenes of forests and rhododendrons. It’s a steep trek down Imja Khola, a part of the Dudh Koshi River which takes us to Pangboche. The village is situated to the direct opposite to Mt. Ama Dablam so we’ll be rewarded with the immersive view of the summit. This trek also blesses us with the Buddhist pilgrims and monasteries and gompa in Pangboche and sacred Mani walls. As we arrive in Dingboche, we witness some alluring beauty of the crop fields. It is also known as “Summer Valley” of the region and has a kilometer of stone walls built to protect the crops from cold wind and grazing animals. We’ll stay in Dingboche for the night.

The Dingboche village is a beautiful place to be for the trekkers and mountaineers for Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam and Imja Tse. It is a village of vegetation surrounded with stony walls that protect crops like buckwheat, barley and potatoes. We will be spending a whole day here for acclimatization.

However there are a lot of things to do during the day. We can trek up the Nagerjun Hill to get an amazing view of the mountains like Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and few more. We can also hike to an old Buddhist heritage site, Nangar Dzong. Futhermore, there’s a peak that can be easily climbed by foot, Dolma Ri.

After resting a while we continue to embark on our expedition. Coming across the snow capped peaks of Cholatse and Tawache, the road and the places grow more remote than the lower region. Then we witness mountain peaks like Khumutse, Mahalangur Himal, Lingtren and the Pumori. Mt. Nuptse also waits for the blessed sunset view for us on the journey. The trek gets easy and comfortable towards the end as we get to the valley of Lobuche. We spend our night in Lobuche.

 As the sun rays shimmer down upon the ranges, we start our journey. This day is vigorous. The entire valley turns golden to give us a sight of the golden Himalayas.

This trek takes strength due to the thinning air and also can be misleading. But we can totally rely on the experienced Sherpas. As we trek along Khumbu Glacier, after about 3 hours we reach a settlement called “Gorak Shep” which is a simple resting place with very few dotted lodges and breathtaking mountain scenes.

Our expedition does not stop here, trekking a bit more time along the Khumbu Glacier leads us to the Everest Base Camp. This cannot get any bigger. We experience pure magic in the form of mountains, the colorful camps contrasting the gray lands. Take photos, meet new people and make cherished memories. Just roam around the place and admire it.

Then we trek down our way towards Gorak Shep again and spend our night there.
