Today’s hike begins on the well-trodden Everest Expedition Trail, offering breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Thamserku, and Ama Dablam peak. The path winds through a dense rhododendron forest, teeming with Himalayan wildlife like musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, and monkeys. The scent of juniper bushes guides you to Tengboche, renowned for its Buddhist Monastery, where daily pujas can be attended. This is the Khumbu region’s largest monastery, providing an excellent education to young Buddhist monks. The monastery’s courtyard offers stunning sunrises and sunsets, with the Mani Rimdu festival held during November-December’s full moon, featuring elaborate dances to worship PhakpaChenrezig, the god of Compassion, drawing large crowds.
