The trail will start off relatively easy but will gradually become harder. You will be able to get your first glimpse of Everest as you are crossing the mighty Dudh Koshi. As you proceed on further, the trail will lead you to Monjo where you could make a lunch stopover. The next part of the trail will be more difficult. The trail becomes vertical and the altitude will add on as we head towards Namche, leaving one with shortness of breath. One should not increase the walking pace but rather progress slowly and steadily. You will be making a pit stop at Namche Bazaar for overnight. The people of and around the Solukhumbu region conjugate in this area to do business. There are facilities of shops, restaurants, hotels, a bank, and internet services which enable you to get in touch with your loved ones, friends and relatives. Namche Bazaar offers an interesting insight into how people survive in the region.

 Namche Bazaar is also known as the Sherpa Capital. You can use your time to acclimatize, relax and explore the surrounding places. Most of the trekkers prefer to get up before sunrise to view the magnificent views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, AmaDablam and other glorious peaks from the Sagarmatha National Park. One can get a chance to observe the shadow of the mountains being projected onto the clouds above and truly appreciate their magnitude. As an energy supplier, one should try salt-butter tea and Champa – a kind of barley often consume by the sherpas in the region. The lively cultural Saturday market is worth a visit and is usually full of traders who are trying to desperately sell off their products.

 Today's walking will start through the old but still used, Everest Expedition Trail. The trail is a winding smooth path that offers a fantastic view of the Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Thamserku (6,618 m) and AmaDablam peak standing at 6,856m located exactly at the east side of Mt. Everest, and leads you upwards through a thick forest of rhododendron. There is a high probability of you, coinciding with the Himalayan wildlife like musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, pheasants, monkeys, etc. The lovely aroma of Juniper bush welcomes you and shows the way towards Tengboche.

Tengboche is famous for the Buddhist Monastery (where you can attend the daily puja) and the viewpoint. The Tengboche Monastery is the largest of the Khumbu region. Many young Buddhist monks live and receive an excellent education there. From the courtyard, you can see spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The Mani Rimdu (a Sherpa dance-drama festival) takes place here during the full moon in November-December. Mani Rimdu is the worship of PhakpaChenrezig, the god of Compassion and the prayers are meant to benefit all beings. The elaborated and very meaningful dance performance attracts a large crowd during Mani Rimdu.

 Beyond Tengboche, you can fell the altitude difference which might affect you. The trail to Pheriche leaves one wanting for more. The trail drops down to Debuche, cross the ImjaKhola and climbs past many unique Mani stones in Pangboche. The stones have carvings of the famous Tibetan Buddhist chant (Om Mani Padme Hum) that virtually speak about the rich culture of the area. Pangboche was the original settlement of the Sherpa’s in the Khumbu region. Due to the pressure of famine and feudal conflict, they migrated from Kham, in eastern Tibet. PangbocheGompa is the original Gompa established by Lama Dorje, who guided the Sherpas from Kham to Khumbu. The Gompa is worth visiting and donating some money to the lama will ensure viewing of some yeti relics. The village is the best place for a stopover for lunch. The trail then climbs to Pheriche which stands at 4240 m.

 Acclimatization is necessary to continue further due to the high altitude. Pheriche is a village in the Khumbu region above the Tsola River which is situated at an altitude of about 4,371 m. The village is a popular stop for trekkers and climbers, especially for the acclimatization. There are also many lodges where trekkers and climbers on their way to the Everest Base Camp can stay. In the clear weather, early in the morning, one can see the crystal clear view of the stunning AmaDablam, Kangtega, Taboche, Lobuche Peak and most especially Cho Oyo. Pheriche was primarily a farming village producing potatoes and buckwheats and keeping yaks (mountain Cows). However, now in summer most villagers especially men are employed by trekkers as guides and porters.

 Due to the climate and high altitude, the trail that leads to Lobuche is sparse. Along the way, the trail will be covered by snow. From this high vantage point, you will be able to get an unbelievable panoramic view of the giant Mt. Everest and its neighbor Himalayas.

 Today you will head towards Gorakshep. On the trail, you will see the Khumbu Glacier - Snow River, and Highlands. Similarly, you will be blessed by the Mt. Everest all the way to Gorakshep. After lunch in Gorakshep, you will continue to go to the Kala Pathar and enjoy the red sun. You will be amazed at the wonderful view of the sunset which the words cannot explain and make you speechless.

 Early in the morning, start walking to Kala Patthar and enjoy the spectacular view of the sun rising. From Kala Pathar, one can see Mt Everest, Mt Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbetse, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam, and Thamserku along with many other small mountains. After climbing down take Breakfast and trek back to Dingboche (4400 m).
