The trail will start off relatively easy but will gradually become harder. You will be able to get your first glimpse of Everest as you are crossing the mighty Dudh Koshi. As you proceed further, the trail will lead you to Monjo, where you can make a lunch stopover. The next part of the trail will be more difficult. The trail becomes vertical, and the altitude will add on as we head towards Namche, leaving one with shortness of breath. One should not increase the walking pace but rather progress slowly and steadily. You will be making a pit stop at Namche Bazaar overnight. The people of and around the Solukhumbu region congregate in this area to do business. There are facilities of shops, restaurants, hotels, a bank, and internet services that enable you to get in touch with your loved ones, friends, and relatives.

On the third day of the Everest Kalapatthar Trek, you can use your time to acclimatize, relax, and explore the surrounding places. Most of the trekkers prefer to get up before sunrise to view the magnificent views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, AmaDablam, and other glorious peaks from the Sagarmatha National Park. One can get a chance to observe the shadow of the mountains being projected onto the clouds above and truly appreciate their magnitude. As an energy supplier, one should try salt-butter tea and Champa, a kind of barley often consumed by the sherpas in the region. The lively cultural Saturday market is worth a visit and is usually full of traders who are trying to desperately sell off their products.

Today’s hike begins on the well-trodden Everest Expedition Trail, offering breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Thamserku, and Ama Dablam peak. The path winds through a dense rhododendron forest, teeming with Himalayan wildlife like musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, and monkeys. The scent of juniper bushes guides you to Tengboche, renowned for its Buddhist Monastery, where daily pujas can be attended. This is the Khumbu region’s largest monastery, providing an excellent education to young Buddhist monks. The monastery’s courtyard offers stunning sunrises and sunsets, with the Mani Rimdu festival held during November-December’s full moon, featuring elaborate dances to worship PhakpaChenrezig, the god of Compassion, drawing large crowds.

Beyond Tengboche, you can feel the altitude difference, which might affect you. The trail to Pheriche leaves one wanting more. The trail drops down to Debuche, crosses the Imja Khola, and climbs past many unique Mani stones in Pangboche. The stones have carvings of the famous Tibetan Buddhist chant (Om Mani Padme Hum) that virtually speak about the rich culture of the area. Pangboche was the original settlement of the Sherpa in the Khumbu region. Due to the pressure of famine and feudal conflict, they migrated from Kham, in eastern Tibet. Pangboche Gompa is the original Gompa established by Lama Dorje, who guided the Sherpas from Kham to Khumbu. The Gompa is worth visiting, and donating some money to the lama will ensure the viewing of some Yeti relics. The village is the best place for a stopover for lunch. The trail then climbs to Pheriche, which stands at 4240 m.

Due to the climate and high altitude, the trail that leads to Lobuche is sparse. Along the way, the trail will be covered by snow. From this high vantage point, you will be able to get an unbelievable panoramic view of the giant Mt. Everest and its neighboring Himalayas.

Today you will head towards Gorakshep. On the trail, you will see the Khumbu Glacier, Snow River, and Highlands. Similarly, you will be blessed by Mt. Everest all the way to Gorakshep. After lunch in Gorakshep, you will continue to go to the Kala Pathar and enjoy the red sun. You will be amazed at the wonderful view of the sunset, which words cannot explain and leaves you speechless.

Early in the morning, start walking to Kala Patthar and enjoy the spectacular view of the sun rising. From Kala Pathar, one can see Mt Everest, Mt Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbetse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku, along with many other small mountains. After climbing down, take Breakfast and trek back to Dingboche (4400 m).

Today, you will be headed to the long but easy trail down to Tengboche. The trail is mostly lonely, with only the flattering and flapping of prayer flags to remind you of the existence of human activities there. We will follow the trail down to Tengboche.

After breakfast, you will head back to Namche Bazaar. The trail follows down to the Dudh Kosi where there are presences of water-driven prayer wheels. The trek continues back to the Sagarmatha National Park through paths of Pine and Cedarwoods.

This is the last day of trekking during this program. You will follow the trail that heads down and crosses the Dudh Koshi. The trek continues through the Chumoa village, a beautiful village, and passes along the riverside until Phakding, and heads towards Lukla. The vanishing sight of the snowy peaks in the distance indicates that the most difficult part has passed, and the end of an exciting and magnificent adventure that has pushed one to its limits. Now, you will be entering through a thick rhododendron forest, which gives off a strong aroma of evergreen oak, and trekking along the Dudh Koshi (Milk River). After a few hours’ walk, you will reach Lukla, where you can relax and immerse yourself in the local culture and lifestyle.

After breakfast, take a flight back to Kathmandu, which leaves before 10:00AM finally leaving the Everest Region. According to weather conditions, there might be some fluctuation in the flight time. When the flight lands at Ramechhap/Kathmandu Airport, our representative will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel by private vehicle. This marks the end of the Everest Kalapatthar Trek.
