About your trip

Signature Blue Whale Expedition Series (2-Day)

EXPEDITION 1 JUNE 16-17 2026

The Experience

To see a Blue Whale is to witness a living legend. Our Signature 2-Day Series is an invitation to leave the coast behind and enter the quiet, vast world of the open North Pacific. We have designed this experience for those who seek more than a glimpse—those who want to understand the rhythm of the largest creature to ever inhabit our planet.

By dedicating two days to the deep sea, we allow the ocean to reveal itself. We move with patience and intent, giving our guests the luxury of time to witness not just a sighting, but the profound behavior of these gentle giants in their natural, undisturbed feeding grounds.

Expedition Details

  • Investment: $975 per person (Plus booking fees)

  • The Vessel: Custom-built, low-profile Zodiac RIBs. Chosen for their stability and quiet efficiency, these craft allow for an intimate, eye-level perspective with the water, bringing you closer to the heart of the encounter.

  • The Range: Extensive offshore search areas, following the deep-water canyons where life is most abundant.

  • Intimacy: Limited to just 6 guests, ensuring a contemplative and personal atmosphere led by our passionate marine naturalists.

  • Success: A 90% encounter rate, optimized by selecting only the most productive window of the summer season.

A Two-Day Journey of Discovery

  • Day One: The Horizon Search. We venture beyond the continental shelf to locate the primary biomass. This day is about connection—learning the signals of the sea and finding the active zones where the giants congregate.

  • Day Two: The Deep Connection. With the knowledge gained on day one, we return to the most vibrant areas. This day is dedicated to quiet observation, underwater acoustics, and the awe-inspiring experience of drifting alongside a 100-foot leviathan.

Preparation & Care

  • Departure: 9:00 AM from the peaceful waters of Mission Bay, San Diego.

  • Time at Sea: Expect 4 to 8 hours of exploration. We are guided by the movement of the whales and the state of the sea, not a ticking clock.

  • Physical Ease: While our vessels are designed for a smooth, absorbing ride, the open ocean is a rhythmic environment. We recommend guests be in good physical health and free of significant back or neck sensitivities.

  • Sea Serenity: For the most comfortable experience, we recommend a gentle motion-sickness protocol (such as ginger or your preferred medication) starting the evening before your journey.

What to Bring

  • Attire: The offshore air is crisp. Bring soft layers, a wind-resistant jacket, and a hat with a chin strap.

  • Vision: Polarized sunglasses are essential to see the vibrant "aquamarine glow" of a Blue Whale just beneath the surface.

  • Sustainability: We provide organic snacks and refreshments. Please bring a reusable bottle to help us keep our oceans plastic-free.

Our Net Zero Promise

Your presence helps protect these waters. Every Signature Series booking supports verified blue-carbon projects that sequester carbon and protect the migratory paths of the leviathans we admire.

Day 1

Day 1 image

The Horizon Search

We leave the coastline behind and venture beyond the continental shelf to the edge of the deep-sea canyons. This day is dedicated to the art of the search—reading the ocean's subtle signals to locate the primary biomass and the deep-water feeding grounds where the leviathans congregate. It is a day of anticipation and discovery, setting the stage for a profound connection with the open Pacific.

Day 2

The Blue Whale Connection

Building upon the patterns and insights discovered on our first day, we return to the ocean's most vibrant "hot zones." This second day is where the true transformation happens—shifting from the anticipation of the search to the serenity of the encounter. We dedicate our time to patient, quiet observation, allowing for a profound sense of presence alongside the giants. This extended window is perfect for those seeking world-class photography, underwater acoustic listening, and the rare gift of witnessing the majestic, undisturbed rhythms of the blue whale in its true home.
