A past filled with glamour and romance has led to a present brimming with intimate sophistication at Hacienda San Angel.

The late Richard Burton purchased the Hacienda’s main villa as a Valentine’s Day gift for his wife, Susan in 1977, after falling in love with Puerto Vallarta as he filmed John Huston’s The Night of the Iguana there in the mid 1960’s. The cult classic film put Puerto Vallarta on the map as a favorite vacation spot for the international glitterati, including Burton’s ex, Elizabeth Taylor, who owned a house mere blocks away from Susan’s. The Burton’s aptly named their home, Casa Bur-Sus.

In 1990, entrepreneur Janice Chatterton purchased Casa Bur-Sus from Susan Burton to use as a vacation home. Following the loss of her son, Chatterton poured her grief into nurturing her love for antiques and rescuing animals. Through renovation, purchases of surrounding villas and innovation, Casa Bur’Sus evolved into Casa San Angel then finally Hacienda San Angel in 2003.

No two suites are alike at Hacienda San Angel.  Each is uniquely decorated with beautiful antiques and decor collected by the owner of the hotel who had a passion for seeking out original pieces.  The views of each suite vary depending upon the location within the grounds.

Your safety is a number one concern!

Hacienda San Angel has taken responsible actions to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect the guests while still offering a serene and luxurious experience and a safe workplace for the staff.  Employees are placing more distance between themselves and others, wearing masks, and sanitizing stations with signs are placed throughout the hotel.

HSA is employing the highest standards of sanitization and hygiene using EPA approved products which are also accepted by Mexico’s Secretaria de Salud (Secretary of Health). They are following CDC guidelines and the practices promoted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association “Safe Stay” Advisory Council. In addition to the high standards of cleaning already in place, electrostatic application of sanitizer will be used to sanitize the air in the rooms, all surfaces, high touch areas, furniture and on mattresses ensuring safe and sanitary lodging. High traffic areas and common areas are on an hourly schedule of sanitization; areas of more frequent touch, such as the front door handle, will be sanitized immediately following each contact.

Testing - 

COVID testing to enter Mexico is not required.  

A negative COVID test is required to re-enter the US.  Testing will be provided at the hotel prior to your return home for a cost of $58.

Should you test positive, it is the policy of the hotel to provide you with a room at a discounted rate.

The Hacinda San Angel restaurant will be open to the public for dinner in the evenings.

Arrive in Puerto Vallarta and your diver will take you to Hacienda San Angel where you will settle in and enjoy a welcome drink & snack followed by a tour of the venue.

5:00  p.m.   Brief Welcome & Orientation followed by Slow Flow Yoga (optional) 

7:00  p.m.   Dinner

7:30 a.m. Self-serve fruit, coffee, & tea available 

8:00 a.m. Yoga & Journaling prompt

9 a.m.  Breakfast

11 a.m.  Depart for walking tour to old town

12 p.m.  Lunch on the beach at La Palapa & beach time

 La Palapa is where the action is in Puerto Vallarta! During the day, Playa Los Muertos is the place to be, with a beautiful white sand beach, great ocean swimming and all sorts of water sports to choose from. La Palapa provides its clients with extendable beach chairs, umbrellas and tables while they enjoy people watching, chatting with new friends or reading a good book. The more adventurous may choose to parasail or jet ski between tanning sessions. Sip an ice-cold cerveza while basking in the warmth of the Vallarta sun and the friendly service that La Palapa is famous for. 

4-5 p.m.  Return to hotel

7 p.m.  Dinner

7:30 a.m. Self-serve fruit, coffee, & tea available

8:30  Breakfast

10:15 a.m.  Depart for Luxury Yacht & Snorkeling Tour (lunch included)

Experience the beauty of Vallarta’s scenic coastline on a luxurious half-day private tour. Come aboard  for a relaxing ride to the Bay of Banderas, where warm waters, lush landscapes, and stunning underwater vistas are waiting to be discovered by you.  Majahuitas cove is the perfect destination for a private snorkeling excursion. This beautiful beach is a paradise hidden away from the commotion of Puerto Vallarta. Full of tropical fish and stunning coral formations you will not want to miss adding this adventure to your luxury yacht ride through Banderas Bay. Whether you are a first time snorkeler or an experienced veteran, the guides will lead you through the cove to the best locations for snorkeling.  

4-6:00 p.m.  Return to Hacienda San Angel
