The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been in the news recently, and we are closely monitoring global travel advisories regarding security and safety in the region, particularly in the capital, Kinshasa.
At present, major international airlines in the DRC are fully operational, and the country continues to welcome travelers across the world arriving at N'djili Kinshasa's International airport.
Breakfast will be included as part of your accommodation, providing a delightful start to each day. However, during our activities and evening entertainment, travelers will be required to pay for their own food and drinks at the various bars and restaurants we’ll be attending. This allows you the freedom to choose your own culinary adventures and enjoy the diverse flavors that Kinshasa has to offer.
At Destination Congo, we understand that sometimes travel plans can change. Our goal is to make the cancellation process as straightforward and fair as possible. Below is our cancellation policy:
In the unlikely event that Destination Congo needs to cancel a trip, travelers will receive a full refund of all payments made. We are not responsible for any additional expenses incurred by travelers in preparing for the trip (such as non-refundable flights or travel insurance).
We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes coverage for trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and other unexpected events.
Refunds will be processed within 14 business days of receiving the cancellation request. All refunds will be issued using the same method of payment used for the initial booking.

General Health Information
It's important for travelers to prioritize their health before any trip. We recommend scheduling an appointment with your healthcare provider at least four to six weeks before your departure. Even if time is limited, this appointment is valuable as it allows for an assessment of potential health risks based on factors like your destination, medical history, and planned activities. For those with existing health conditions, an earlier appointment is advisable.

Malaria Prevention:
We strongly advise travelers to take prescription medication to prevent malaria. Depending on the medication prescribed, you may need to start taking it several days before your trip, continue during your stay, and after your return. Consult your doctor to determine the most suitable malaria medication for you.
Yellow Fever Vaccination:
Under International Health Regulations, all travelers aged 9 months and above are required to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter the DRC.
COVID-19 Requirements:
As of now, there are no specific COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travelers
entering the DRC. However, we recommend staying informed about any updates or changes in regulations.

Welcome to Kinshasa! Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and picked up by our dedicated shuttle bus service. For a smooth experience, we recommend booking flights that land in Kinshasa before 8 pm. This allows ample time for you to settle in and start enjoying your adventure with Destination Congo. Once all travelers are checked in at the hotel, we'll host a welcome reception at the Novotel Kinshasa La Gombe. We'll start the day with a two-hour drive from the hotel to Park Valle de la N’sele. Your package includes park entry and a safari tour, providing an opportunity to see a variety of wildlife. Additional activities can be purchased separately. Lunch will be served at the park but is not included in your package. We'll spend the morning and most of the afternoon exploring the park before heading back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
For those interested in experiencing Kinshasa's nightlife, we'll be heading to a prime nightclub. Enjoy an exciting evening of music, dancing, and socializing in one of the city's top nightspots. Either K Lounge our Spirit Club & Bar.
Morning:
We’ll depart early from our hotel to visit Lola ya Bonobo, the world’s only sanctuary for orphaned bonobos, located just outside Kinshasa. Upon arrival, the sanctuary staff will welcome us and guide us on a tour, where we’ll observe bonobos in a semi-wild environment. This visit offers a unique opportunity to learn about their behaviours, social structures, and the challenges they face in the wild. The sanctuary’s mission to rescue and rehabilitate bonobos will be shared with us, providing a rare chance to see these intelligent creatures up close.
Lunch:
After our tour of Lola ya Bonobo, we’ll head to Lac de Ma Vallée for lunch and an afternoon of leisure activities. You can take a boat ride on the tranquil lake, enjoy a nature walk around its scenic surroundings, or simply relax by the shore and take in the stunning views.
Afternoon:
We will return to the hotel in the late afternoon, giving you time to rest and freshen up.
Evening:
The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You can unwind at the hotel or, if you’re feeling adventurous, explore Kinshasa’s vibrant nightlife. There are various bars and live music venues where you can experience the local culture, such as Coco Jambo (open 4 pm to 5 am) or Millionaire Club (open 10 pm to 5 am).

This morning is activity-free, allowing travelers to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities. Take advantage of the amenities. This is a great time to recharge after the past few days of exploration.

In the afternoon, we’ll depart as a group to explore some of Kinshasa’s most significant landmarks.
Visit to Laurent Kabila Mausoleum: Our first stop is the Laurent Kabila Mausoleum, where you’ll learn about the legacy of the former president who played a pivotal role in the country’s history.
Botanical Gardens: Next, we’ll visit the Kinshasa Botanical Gardens, a serene green space in the heart of the city. Here, you can enjoy the lush vegetation and learn about the diverse plant species native to the Congo.
Kinshasa Central Railway Station: After the gardens, we’ll head to the historic Kinshasa Central Railway Station. This landmark is not only an architectural gem but also a significant piece of the city’s colonial history.
Marble Palace: Our final stop will be the Marble Palace, an important government building known for its impressive architecture and historical significance.
Evening: Dinner and Entertainment at Chez Flore
In the evening, we’ll head to the renowned local restaurant, Chez Flore. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious Congolese cuisine, Chez Flore is the perfect place to enjoy an authentic dining experience. Spend the evening savoring traditional dishes while enjoying live entertainment.

We’ll start the day with the continuation of our city tour, exploring more of Kinshasa’s significant landmarks.
Wenze Ya Bikeko (Artisanal Market): Our first stop will be Wenze Ya Bikeko, a vibrant artisanal market where you can see and purchase traditional Congolese crafts, sculptures, and other handmade goods.
Académie des Beaux-Arts: Next, we’ll visit the Académie des Beaux-Arts, Kinshasa’s renowned art school. Here, you’ll have the chance to see works by local artists and perhaps even witness students in the process of creating their art.
Musée National: The tour continues with a visit to the National Museum, where you’ll gain insights into the rich history and culture of the Democratic Republic of the Congo through its extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits.
Palais du Peuple: We’ll then stop by the Palais du Peuple, an important government building known for its impressive architecture and historical significance.
Afternoon:
Lunch at Limoncello Restaurant: For lunch, we’ll dine at Limoncello, a popular Italian restaurant in Kinshasa known for its delicious cuisine and relaxed ambiance. Enjoy a variety of Italian dishes in this welcoming environment.
Stade des Martyrs: Next, we’ll visit Stade des Martyrs, the largest stadium in the country and a key venue for both sports and major national events.
L'Échangeur de Limete: Our final landmark for the morning is the iconic L'Échangeur de Limete, a towering monument that offers panoramic views of the city.
Evening:
In the evening, we’ll head to Ciné Sous Les Étoiles, an outdoor cinema experience in Kinshasa. This unique venue offers the chance to watch films under the stars, providing a delightful end to the day. Enjoy a curated selection of films in a beautiful open-air setting, complete with comfortable seating and refreshments available for purchase. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

The morning of Day 6 is activity-free, giving you a chance to relax and unwind at the hotel. Enjoy the hotel’s amenities such as the pool or simply take this time to rest and recharge.
