Vacation in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, a beautiful seaside village in the Mexican Caribbean!  We will be staying in a local oceanfront hotel that has a beautiful large pool, bar, restaurant, and beach club!!  We will call these trips the LOCAL ALL-INCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE! If you have been following me o social media for a while you will know a lot about PM and My Trish Adivosr BUT maybe you have never heard of Puerto Morelos GASP!!.... or My Trish Advisor! GASP again! haha, Let me introduce to you the charming town of Puerto Morelos, which I have been living in for the last 7 years, and myself!

Puerto Morelos (PM) is a small town located about 20 min from the Cancun airport and 30 minutes away from Playa Del Carmen.  The small town feel with the closeness to larger towns and an international airport draws a lot of people to come to visit and move to this area! We have stunning sunrises and colorful sunsets with the 2nd largest reef in the WORLD right offshore!  The people that live here are what really makes this town so special!  You will feel right at home with everyone making you feel welcome!

Who is this Trish gal??  Oh well, I thought you would never ask! Hola! my name is Trish and I am originally from Iowa BUT I left the cold winters of Iowa behind in 2001.  I moved to warm Huntington Beach California and lived in So Cal for over 8 years.  Then I moved to NYC got married and left that terribly abusive marriage.  Whew, got out of that one! Shortly after I left NYC to go back to Iowa I was recruited by my old boss to go back to Cali and I did just that. 

Ok Trish that's fine but how the heck did you end up in MEXICO? Funny you should ask, ok LONG story short I went to Rosarito by myself to do the JET PACK, yes to fly around over the water! After spending a few weekends there I met some people at a party that were driving to Cancun for diving jobs.  Well, I said I'd join them, and well... 3 days later I was driving my 2 dogs, Sassy and Peace Out Dog across Mexico with people we just met!  We had 6 people, 2 SUVs, and 4 dogs we drove over 3,000 miles across 18 states of Mexico which took 16 days!  I arrived on November 12th, 2015, in Puerto Morelos and after about a week people were asking me what I was gonna do, I was like oh I can't just DRIVE back! I guess I will stay a while!  Lol, It was a VERY FAR drive! haha, So I stayed!  I ended up flying back to San Diego selling everything I own officially quitting my job that I was KILLING it at then went home to Iowa to see family and friends and then arrived a 2nd time by plane on Jan 7th, 2016 officially moved to Puerto Morelos!

Ok, gotcha but how did My Trish Advisor get started??  By ACCIDENT, but now of course I believe it's all for a reason! Well….I was frustrated with some news that came out in March 2018 about how dangerous Mexico and people should not travel here. I decided to make a video sharing my frustration about how the media portrays Mexico. .  I basically said that people should not cancel their vacations because the news says that Mexico is dangerous.  That shootings happen even in schools in the USA and kids still go to school.  Of course, some people were very upset about what I said but my point was and still is that terrible things happen all over the world. We have the choice to sit on the couch and be scared or actually go out and make experiences of our own!  I had 2 videos that went viral that had over a million views each.  I never want a viral video again, its very stressful, people are mean! 

So after that, I had TONS of people reaching out to me asking things like: Where do you recommend to stay? What should we do while visiting? Do you know any good taco spots? I already had my tour company and that was called Adventurous Spirits Tours and NO ONE can ever spell that.  Well after a meeting with friends that were gonna help me with social media they were the ones that came up with My Trish Advisor. In our area Trip Advisor is everywhere and the new name just fit well!   Ya seeeee I had hired them to help me with Adventurous Spirits Tours and then it swiftly changed to My Trish Advisor. It just made sense.  I was a person that people could connect with and learn about Mexico and what it's like not just to visit but also to live here.  Since I had airport transfers and hosted day trips like catamaran sailing, cenotes, Mayan ruins, and MANY more for over 5 years it worked well to combine it with My Trish Advisor.  

Ok now what!?  I know many people are wanting to explore other areas of Mexico or want to meet new friends to travel with.  Also, some are nervous or scared to travel alone,  as a couple or with their family.   Then, for me I LOVE hosting people, throwing parties &  traveling sooo why not combine all that and create a community that can travel together!? 

I have helped groups from 4 to 100 travel the area, including weddings, families, MANY girls' trips, and corporate groups. I have also been making YouTube videos, FB and IG posts, and sharing all these beautiful places I visit but NOW I want to BRING YOU ALONG! This is why we are launching MTA Group trips! For those of you that have been following me for a while, you know that I encourage people to travel to Mexico despite the negative media.  We want you to feel safe as possible and know that we can not control everything but want to do the best we can!  So first we do want to mention we will need proof of travel insurance for your stay. 

We want to take into consideration of weather issues and closures due to issues beyond our control but please remember travel doesn't always go as planned.  Please be patient if we have to make any travel changes along the way. 

Since this is a trip of adventure and for those thinking of moving to Mexico we want you to have options what you want to be involved in.   

Additionally, the tour is listed as a package, and no price adjustments will be given if someone wants to "opt-out" of an included activity. 

You will secure your spot with a $350USD deposit.  The deposit is non-refundable and the remaining balance is due by December 1st.

We have a payment program that after the deposit you can break the balance into payments to make it easier for those that may not have the money all at once!  I thought this was pretty cool because that would be me! haha  

We are staying at Ojo De Agua BEACH CLUB or similar on the beach in Puerto Morelos. The hotel is a BEACH FRONT hotel and has a big beautiful pool, a restaurant with an ocean view, and a beach club with a full bar!  This is where we will be having our welcome dinner and your first breakfast that is included. The first people who book have the first choice of the type of room they want. 

Rooms:

Include A/C, Internet, TV, Fridge, bath soaps and room setups below

9 rooms with 2 Double beds

4 rooms with 1 King bed

1 room with 3 beds (Great option for friends that want to be in the same room let me know if you want this option!)

Getting around:

Walking distance to everything!

The location of the hotel is within walking distance of everything! Puerto Morelos is very small so you will be able to walk about 10 minutes down the beach to be at the main pier area.  This is also where the famous "Puerto Morelos" sign is to take lots of photos! 

Walk a 1 block more from the pier and you go to our very well-equipped grocery store called Chedraui! You can stock up on snacks, fruit, and any other items you might want while staying at the hotel.  Within walking distance, we have a local fruit stand that makes fresh juices daily! 

Taxi prices:

To La Colonia: $50 - $70 pesos ($3-$7USD)

Playa Del Carmen / Cancun: $600 Pesos ($40USD)

Collectivos: $10 pesos (60 cents)

These are vans that act as small buses to get around.  If you are a little more adventurous and want to save money you can take this for $10 pesos a person from the beachside to the Colonia side of Puerto Morelos.  This is the part of town that is where the people that live here full time live for the most part.  

In the event that you need to cancel your trip, these fees will be applied:  

 • Between Now - July 15th 2023, MTA retains only the non-refundable deposit ($350) 

 • Between July 16th till  September 1st, MTA retains 50% of the trip price. 

 • Between September 2nd till Jan 1st, MTA retains 75% of the tour price. 

 • Between January 2nd and till departure date (Feb 22nd), MTA retains 100% of the entire tour price.   

ADD-ONS - you can choose to add these up until 60 days before the trip (December 24th 2023-Merry Christmas!). These are non-refundable after January 6th.  

A single room for the duration of the trip is an extra cost of $385. -- This can not be canceled or refunded closer than 60 days prior to your trip.

We will be meeting in a very casual space at a beach bar and the meeting includes one drink on me!  Those that are not interested in moving to Mexico are more than welcome to join us and collect your drink! (On the ex-pat meet-up day only)

Airport Shuttle
We will ask prior to the trip about your flight details and put you on a shuttle either at 2, 4, & 6 pm.  If you would like to come at a different time or from a different location, we can help to arrange that for an additional cost.  

We will be having a welcome dinner at 7:30 pm.  So an idea that others had was to arrive a day early.  We can still arrange the hotel and transport for you.  

7:30 pm Cocktails 

8:00 pm Dinner is served. (Food and one drink included)  Additional drinks are on you, you lush! haha

Today is your day to relax, snorkel, choose an adventure and / or meet people that have moved from US /Canada to Mexico and get to know more about moving to Mexico. 

Get to know this area by going on a fun adventure!  You can do any of the following activities for an additional cost (check out the "ADD ONS" section for more details!):

Today we will have:

8-10 am: Breakfast (included in price)

10 - 12:30 or 3 Pm Snorkeling (Included in price) - For those attending the expat meet up the 10 am snorkeling is the one for you. 

Additional add-on options:

-Dive the reef

-Visit 2 cenotes (underground rivers) with ATV and ziplining (Return by 1 pm)

-Salsa dancing class at a local bar 

-Massages

If you are planning to go to the ex-pat meet up you can do any of the above activities.  We just ask that you are back in to meet at My Paradise at 2 pm.  

Suggested times for those attending ex-pat meet up:

Snorkeling: 10 am

Cenotes, ATVs & Ziplines: 8:30 am - 1 pm

Massages: 9am to 1 pm

The rest of the afternoon you are able to explore the little town, enjoy the beach and then have dinner on your own time and schedule.

You will have the evening to yourself for dinner.  We will have lots of recommendations ready for you so do not worry!  One thing we are NOT short on in Puerto Morelos is places to eat! You will see others on the trip and don't be afraid to ask them to join you for dinner and make new friends! 

Today we explore Isla Mujeres and sail there on a large catamaran!

What to expect:

TOUR ITINERARY:  All times are approximate

• 8:00 am pickup from the resort to go to the meeting point
• 9:30 am board the boat
• 10:20 am arrive at the reef area for snorkeling (approximate time of snorkeling 45mins.)
• 12.30 pm Arrive at the beach club in Isla Mujeres where you’ll have 1.5 hours of time to enjoy all the facilities with buffet lunch. Lounge chairs, volleyball court, lockers, showers, bathrooms, hammocks area, and extra services available.
• 2:00 pm Set sail again to a beautiful ride through the bay of Isla Mujeres. Dock at the city center where your group will be given an approximate free time of 1.5 hours. You can walk around the center of the small bustling town or to walk to the north beach (one of the best beaches in the nation!)
• 3:30 pm Set sail back to Cancun. 
• 5:30 pm Arrive back to the hotel

These times are approximate, there may be variants due to weather conditions or other variables beyond our control.

What to know: 

• No chemical SUNBLOCK!!  Wear long sleeves or a REEF SAFE rash guard. For time in the sun be sure to bring hats and such. If you must wear sunblock only REEF SAFE BIODEGRADABLE is allowed. Please apply it 20 to 30 minutes before snorkeling to allow time for it to soak into your skin OR apply AFTER the snorkeling activity.
• Bring a refillable water container to reduce plastic waste.

The morning is for you to do as you please and eat at that breakfast restaurant you saw that you want to go eat at and by 1 pm be ready for our pool party!

Yes, we are having a POOL PARTY BABY!  We will have tacos and beer and a lot of fun!  This will be from 1-4 pm. 

So you can enjoy sitting at the beach or go do an activity that you did not get a chance to do on the second day! 

We will have our "Nos Vemos Pronto Dinner" Which means "See you soon" In Spanish as we hope to see you soon back in Mexico.  Also that you enjoyed your MTA Group Trip Experience SO MUCH that we will see you and your friends and family on the next trip!  

The dinner will be ON THE SAND with a lovely ambiance! We will have a buffet style dinner and use that time to exchange info with others that you felt you connected with and stay in contact!

We want to make this an epic experience for you as this is something that I believe is so important to experience, travel! I am excited that you are joining us and we are going to have a great time together! 

The trip has come to a close but memories and friendships will last a lifetime! Our last day together will be breakfast on your own and shuttles to the airport. Shuttle times will be 9 am, 11 am, and 1 pm.  (Possibly changed if needed)

Check-out from the hotel is 11 am and we look forward to having you on another My Trish Advisor Group Trip!
