      About this trip

7 nights onboard the M/Y Blue Adventurer + up to 20 dives

Join Blue Planet for some incredible diving in the Red Sea! Our “Northern Wrecks & Reefs” itinerary will have us exploring the iconic wrecks and stunning reefs across the northern Red Sea. And for those who want to visit Egypt’s historical sites, we’ll head to Alexandria, Cairo and other famous sites for a few days after.

      Red Sea

Beneath the crystal blue surface of the Red Sea lies a rich and diverse ecosystem just waiting to be explored. Located between Africa and Asia, the warm tropical waters are home to more than 1100 species of fish, 200 species of hard and soft corals and 44 species of shark. This rich diversity is in part due to the expanse of coral reef that extends along its coastline.

The Red Sea is a unique marine paradise that offers some of the most spectacular diving in the world. With miles of beautiful coral reef, numerous wrecks and a vast array of marine life: from brightly colored nudibranchs and tropical fish, to large pelagics such as oceanic white tips and hammerheads, there really is something for everyone!

      The Diving

Minimum dive certification/experience: PADI Open Water Diver required. PADI Enriched Air/Nitrox Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications strongly recommended (can be completed on trip). A minimum of 20 dives required to dive the Thistlegorm wreck.

Our itinerary, Northern Wrecks & Reefs, visits plenty of wrecks including the world-famous Thistlegorm, Dunraven, Giannis D, Carnatic and potentially even more. There is also some fantastic reef diving including the Ras Mohamed marine park, Danaba (Shag Rock), Sha'ab El Erg (famous for dolphin encounters) and the Island of Gobal.

Check out the itinerary for a description of the different sites we'll visit, but keep in mind that nothing is guaranteed. All dive sites are subject to weather conditions and the final route taken is at the absolute discretion of the captain and dive guides.

Another great trip with Blue Planet! BP worked with the Aggressor office and the boat staff to ensure our safety during Hurricane Beryl. All guests were safe and we had a great time inland. Anthony provided a clear outline of next steps and options.

This was my first livaboard experience, and the crew of the Aggressor III went above and beyond all expectations to ensure we had a great time in spite of having to put us ashore early on account of Hurricane Beryl. The diving was moderately challenging for me, forcing me to contend with some surface current, without seeming overwhelming. It forced me be more thoughtful and aware of what was happening, in order to anticipate the movement of the boat and get back aboard smoothly. After three days of excellent diving, including the Great Blue Hole, and other dive sites, during which I completed my Deep Specialty Certification, and encountered sharks for the first time, the captain was compelled to take us to shore by the Belizian government. There they set us up to shelter in a hotel in the Belizian highlands, along with two excellent crewmembers, Terrilyn and Ruth as well as a tour bus driver who proved the be especially knowledgeable about Mayan archeology. Our dive trip transformed into a jungle exploration trip! With the plan having been rendered irrelevant by present circumstances, the ship's crew members and the driver became not just staff taking care of us, but valuable team members for helping us navigate Belize. Ruth in particular proved excellent having grown up in the area where we sheltered. As the weather situation evolved, we set out into the jungle and went zip lining, explored the ecological richness of the Belizian wetlands and rivers, and admired Mayan ruins from afar. Adventures often do not go according to plan and the crew of the Aggressor III proved to be exceptional in their ability to adapt to uncertain and rapidly changing circumstances. In the course of doing so they provided us with what I would argue was a more rich experience than I suspect we'd have had if we'd only dove the whole time. Future liveaboard crews will have a difficult time exceeding the adaptability demonstrated by the Aggressor III's crew on this trip. I will miss them.

Jen and Ryan were so welcoming and awesome! I had a great time on the trip and hope to visit again. They were very conscientious of dietary restrictions and able to adjust plans on the fly if needed. The Blue Planet Team was great as always. Definitely looking forward to more trips.
