About this trip

The island is easily one of the most unique and interesting destinations to visit in all of Latin America, if not the world. While you may come to Cuba looking for answers you're more than likely to return home with even more questions. Cuba's vibrant culture is reflected in its art, music, dance, food, drink and overall ambiance felt as you cruise the streets of la Habana Vieja or spend a leisurely afternoon smoking a cigar on a family-run tobacco farm in Viñales Valley.

Our Cuba tours immediately immerse you as you settle into your "casa particular" owned and run by a Cuban family. From there you will jump into learning about Cuba's historic and cultural past and present while traveling throughout both urban and rural Cuba. Our in-country host families, local guides and drivers are all friendly, warm and excited to share the real Cuba with you!

Learn more on our free Discovery Calls!

For those interested in joining our Cuba's Past, Present and Future Immersion trip, we will be hosting two Discovery Calls via Zoom.  These calls consist of a brief presentation as we walk through the itinerary together before opening up the session to questions and general conversation.

Itinerary

Day One
Arrival in Habana

Upon arriving at the airport, one of our Program Directors will be waiting to escort you to our headquarters in La Habana Vieja, and then to your Bed and Breakfast (casa particular), and given a brief orientation of the city.

There will all meet to enjoy a homemade welcome dinner & cocktails during which time travelers can get to know one another and the guides better as we discuss the itinerary for the following days.

We'll later get into the spirit of Havana with cocktails and live music at one of Havana’s most iconic bars just steps from the Capitol!

The Heart of Travel was born out of a deep-rooted love and passion for travel, art, history, food, nature, culture and adventure as well as a call to give back to the communities and people that had already provided us with so much. The travel industry has long been bombarded with double decker tour busses, beach front resorts and cruise ships, often at the expense of the local communities. As a response to this failing system, we began a boutique travel company that allows clients to explore new places in an authentic and non-touristy way, offering travelers a more intimate and unique experience all while removing the stress and hassle of researching, planning, bargain hunting, reserving and more that goes along with planning a trip or vacation.

We had an amazing trip with Heart of Travel! We were able to experience things we would have never been able to do without their help. Our hike up Volcan Acatenango was an exertion we will never forget. Heart of Travel took care of the details for us, making the trip smooth and simple on us. I highly recommend booking an experience with them.

This was my second trip with Heart of Travel and it was perfect in every way. The Parque Hotel was beautiful and in a wonderful location. Dylan and Daniel were the best guides and Allie—an added bonus— The Heart of Travel’s photographer. Daniel, the local guide, is so knowledgeable that you will learn so much from him. Dylan also. The Restaurant’s Chelsea picked were all different and wonderful. Lisa, our food tour guide, gave us the best experience at The Market we went to. I loved Mexico City and I look forward to my next journey with Heart of Travel—where ever that may be. Thank you Everyone who made this trip so perfect and memorable. CRP

Even though I speak Fair Spanish, I was a little intimidated to tour Mexico City on my own, given the size and complexity of getting around. Our tour guide showed us the best of Mexico City, with no hassles.

Fun, Fun, Fun! We traveled with The Heart of Travel, our favorite for Spanish-speaking destinations. We had a perfect mix of history, culture, learning, sharing, and food and drink. Día de los Muertos at the cemetery was very special. Our accommodation at an AirB&B was perfect for our group. Our local guide, Gabo, and Heart of Travel guide, Ana, are the best.
