My husband and I had THE BEST time on our 2 day hike! Our guide, Lino, was so knowledgeable about everything, the history, the wildlife, the trail, and was so kind and welcoming. The scenery speaks for itself, Machu Picchu is incredible and everyone should experience it! Lino taught us so much about the Incas and everything leading up to the building, reign, and evacuation from Machu Picchu, I am truly in awe of everything I saw! The hike really wasn’t that bad either (you will be able to take as many breaks as you need). I would also recommend Huayna Picchu (so cool to get to see everything from a different vantage point) butttt is more on the difficult side to climb, but if ya got it in ya you should do it!

The trip was fantastic! Our guide Lino was incredible: so positive, warm, supportive and interactive. He shared so much information and insight about everything we passed: birds, vegetation, and of course was incredibly knowledgeable about the Incan ruins and Machu Picchu. We had a great time with him. The entire travel was smooth: from emails ahead of time, to a briefing the night before, to extra support from them with our other bookings after the trip. The packed lunch was delicious (high quality local food), and Lino knew all the spots for great photos. He made our trip (and of course Machu Picchu was incredible on its own). We did the 2 day trek, and that was the right length for us. Also, this is a local company, and that is fantastic!

There are no words to describe a trip like this! It was one of the most amazing things I have done in my entire life. Before booking I researched and read reviews for a company that I felt supported the local community, who hired local people and who were sourced and owned locally. Action Peru Treks was that company in every aspect. From the beginning booking something like this online from countries away, leaves a person with many questions, and my communication with Roxner, was constantly available for me, to answer all of the many questions that I had. Once the trek began, it was obvious to myself and my family that we made the right choice for our Inca trail company. Our guide Dario lead us through our 4 day backpacking trek and as we walked through the trail, meandering past small villages throughout the beginning portions of it, Dario was saying hello to his uncles, his aunts, his cousins, and we even met his very special grandfather and saw his amazing and beautiful home land. Dario grew up in this beautiful country side and we were literally being led by someone who not only knew the history and vast knowledge of the Inca trail and ancient historic sites, but he was also from the land, and knew the people. This gave us a great trust of him and respect. Dario was also a lot of fun and has a great sense of humor, we had plenty of laughs with him along the trail and became great friends. Dario also had great patience as the trek was very difficult for me, with the high elevation and as I took the incline parts step by step, he was also so encouraging, understanding and helpful. We appreciate him so much! If you get the chance to have him as your guide, consider yourselves so lucky to get the chance to meet such an awesome person! — We traveled as a family of four, my husband and I and our older kids age 20 and 16. Our kids young legs did fantastic on the trail, at age 40, it was a challenge for me, I also have asthma, and I share this with you to let you know that you CAN do it! It is a step by step journey. I would highly highly recommend getting into shape before the trip. We booked this last minute in comparison to most people, and that gave me a little over a month to practice hiking uphill almost daily, before the trip, I know that effort helped, but if I could recommend to anyone planning to do the Inca trail, to give yourself months in advance to begin at least a 5 day a week exercise routine to be sure you are fit and ready, I would highly advise that. I advise uphill leg workouts to build up those muscle memories and condition your lungs and heart. The high elevation is no joke. — The porter team was outstanding, it felt odd to us to have a group haul all of our gear on their backs and not hold our own, but this is the way in which these teams do this, and we were so grateful as our lungs were not even close to as acclimated as theirs are to the elevation. They provided to us each morning, afternoon and evening, some of the most amazing Peruvian food that we had in our entire trip to Peru. If you want true local food - dine from the cooking of Peruvian porter cooks, it was incredible! They even provided a surprise birthday cake for my husband on his birthday! Hard to believe that they could bake a cake up there! The challenge of the Inca trail was like nothing I have ever physically faced, the amount of stairs built into the ancient trail was mind blowing, and through the challenge came a sense of great accomplishment. To the summit - we made it! To the final destination of Machu Picchu - we made it! And in the hardest most strenuous physical moments, I became overwhelmed with a deep sense of gratitude, deep thankfulness that we get to do this, together as a family, and to walk this path, and to push ourselves to the limit, and to soak in the incredible beauty that cannot be seen without hiking through. Landscape after landscape greeted us with beauty. And I felt overwhelmed at some points even with tears as I pushed my way up step after step, tears of gratefulness and a profound sense of peace. It is a time of deep contemplation, of connection to nature, and to learn and respect the stories and heritage of these great Peruvian people - their history is rich and we have so much that we have learned from them, that will stay within our hearts forever. Through our entire time in Peru, THIS trek with Action Peru Treks, on the Inca trail, is the part that will never leave my heart, my memory, my spirit. I feel forever connected and I am so thankful.

Our tour guide, Christian, far exceeded our expectations. I'm a seasoned traveler and have dealt with so many different tour guides in the past, but Christian understood our concerns and accommodated our schedule when we got altitude sickness, as an example. He understood our concerns for vegetarian foods. We guided us as far as where to go and not to go. He could not have done a better job. Thank you, Christian!!!

We were a group of 7 from USA in our 20's. We had an amazing time on our 2D/1N short Inca trail hike + the Huyana Picchu add on! Christian was our guide and he was knowledgeable and shared many cool facts during our tour. Christian made sure we were okay during the hike since some parts were steep and was patient if we needed breaks. The hike was one of the most beautiful things I've ever done, Christian helped take many pictures for us! Machu Picchu is such an amazing place that we will be thinking of for our entire lives! I also highly recommend paying the 75$ for Huyana Picchu the next day, it's about 1.5hr of uphill stairs but the view is even more stunning and you get to see the entire landscape with a 360 unobstructed view! The entire process booking this tour was smooth. I communicated with Roxner through email if I had any questions and the live chat function on the website is very helpful. It's stressful planning a trip to Machu Picchu but thankfully this tour company helped us arrange all transportation, accommodations, and booked all necessary tickets for us. The hotel they booked for us was clean, had great showers and comfortable beds. It also had a yummy breakfast buffet with an amazing view of a stunning cloud covered mountain right outside! There's a mandatory pre-trip meeting, we chose this meeting to be at our Airbnb in Cusco, and we were able to meet Christian beforehand and ask him any questions that we had. I recommend keeping extra cash to tip the drivers and guides, they truly deserve it. We are so grateful to have experienced Machu Picchu and so thankful for this tour company, Action Peru Treks, it truly is worth it!!
