Good time. Great people. A lot of unexpected.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with world-renowned experts leading the way and coming on board at locations. You want to make sure to do a bit of walking and to be in shape as you will be visiting places that require some exertion. I was with a group of ancient civilization enthusiasts, so I personally could have done with fewer of the gorgeous historic mosques. Holes in the dirt with pot shards and flint chips were more my speed - ha! That said, I know that this tour is evolving and it was exciting to be on a shakedown cruise version. Trying things that maybe won't be done again, and I know future versions will see things that we did not. Extra batteries for your phone are a good idea, I brought extra for my new friends, but you may not be lucky enough to have me with you! The itinerary was evolving as we traveled so I was glad I had packed clothing that was good for the heat, sun, and versatile. I brought a small rechargeable travel fan which I used to dry my clothing that I rinsed at night and then on the bus after coming in from a challenging walk or climb. We all felt safe on the streets and there weren't the beggars you get coming at you in so many places. Turkey is so full of history and remnants of ancient civilizations that there is so much to pick from besides the must-see places. It is a place I will want to return to.

We had a great time and a wonderful tour group. Could have used a bit of attention to organizational details but overall it was a great experience.
