About this trip

Azerbaijan is a country with a rich history, beautiful nature and wonderful people. It surely needs more time to see all its sides and parts, but in a two-day tour to Sheki and Lahic, you will see thousand-year-old traditions, visit ancient sights, Christian churches, mosques, luxurious palaces and streets of old villages. You will feel this Caucasian country even in this relatively short time.

Sheki

Sheki tours will introduce you a city located in the picturesque mountains and considered one of the most ancient in the entire Caucasus. It is a hub of ancient crafts where you will visit local studios, watch the masters’ work and get souvenirs to remember the outstanding trip. There is also Sheki Khans Palace considered the most valuable monument of 18th century Azerbaijan.

LAHIC

High-altitude settlement Lagich in Ismayilli region of Azerbaijan is an original monument of town-planning and architectural art of antiquity. This medieval town with cobbled streets and squares is one of the most famous in the Caucasus and beyond its trade and shopping centers. Here they make articles of copper, leather, embossing, skilled potters and wood carvers. Especially famous Lagich manufactured cold steel and copper utensils, decorated with engraved ornament. And to this day there are a dozen workshops, where hereditary blacksmiths in the eyes of astonished tourists make various household items. The very first quarter of Lahic was laid in the III-IV centuries. It is curious that the city has a water supply and sewerage system, which is no less than 1,500 years! None of the residents know where the sewerage starts and where it ends, and by what principle it works, which does not prevent the collector from functioning for many centuries. Now Lagich is a historical and architectural monument, protected by the state and the appearance of the settlement is preserved in its original form.
