This Day Trip features two "Must Experience" sites in Durham. First, we join the more than 400,000 visitors from all over the world that visit Sarah P. Duke Gardens annually,
The Gardens, located on the campus of Duke University, are beautiful in the fall and the tour docents are brimming with information. The tour lasts just over an hour, and includes information on the Garden's history, the current plant features, and special plants such as Witness Trees.
Following the Garden tour, we make the short drive to the Brightleaf District in Downtown Durham where you can enjoy lunch on your own. Lunch choices will be provided.
Our final stop is lesser known but a real treasure. Built on the site of an old country farm, and nestled among historic tobacco barns, Cedar Creek Gallery is home to an outstanding collection of American handmade craft. Cedar Creek also features some gardens as well as an extensive selection of functional and decorative pottery, hand-turned wood, blown glass, jewelry, fiber arts, children's toys and more!
