Welcome to Malaga, please plan to arrive at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport before 11:30 AM. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your centrally located hotel. After checking in and freshening up, we’ll come together for a delightful welcome lunch that introduces us to the flavors and warmth of Andalucía.
In the afternoon, we begin our immersion into Southern Spain with a guided walking tour through the historical heart of Málaga. As we wander the old streets, we’ll step inside the soaring Renaissance-Baroque Cathedral of Málaga, affectionately called La Manquita — the "one-armed lady" due to her unfinished south tower. From there, we continue to the Picasso Museum, a remarkable tribute to the city’s most celebrated son, with a curated collection showcasing his early works and avant-garde brilliance. As twilight descends, the city glows — quite literally — as we stroll under the dazzling Christmas lights of Calle Larios, one of the most spectacular festive displays in Europe. After a brief return to the hotel to relax and regroup, we’ll gather once more for a charming Andalusian dinner together, the perfect setting to connect, unwind, and toast to the week ahead.
After breakfast, we make our way to the hilltop of Gibralfaro, where an ancient Moorish fortress crowns the city. From here, panoramic views stretch from the port to the mountains, offering a sweeping farewell to Málaga. Then we head east along the subtropical coast toward Almuñécar, a picturesque town nestled between sea and mountains — and our home base for the next several days.
Upon arrival, we dive straight into the sensory pleasures of this coastal town with a Tapas Walking Tour through the heart of Almuñécar. Tapas — those small, savoury dishes meant to be shared — are central to Spanish life. They embody community, conversation, and the joy of variety. As we taste our way through this town, we’ll visit Majuelo Park, a lovely botanical garden set beside ancient Roman ruins; step inside the Oficina de Turismo, located in a restored Phoenician site; and wander the cobbled alleys of the historical centre, each corner revealing a new local story or flavour. We’ll also explore the town’s bustling food market, a lively mosaic of scents, spices, and fresh produce that reflects the region’s bounty. The afternoon offers free time to relax by the seaside promenade or sip a café con leche with ocean views. In the evening, we’ll regroup for dinner at a local restaurant where the sea breeze and Andalusian flavours combine in perfect harmony.
Today we journey inland to one of Spain’s most treasured landmarks — the Alhambra Palace in Granada. This UNESCO World Heritage site is more than a monument; it’s a living poem in stone, where Moorish artistry meets serene gardens and palace courtyards that echo with centuries of history. Our guided tour will take us through the Nasrid Palaces, the Alcazaba fortress, and the fragrant Generalife gardens, once the leisure retreat of sultans and poets.
Afterwards, we travel to the verdant Lecrín Valley, where we’ll visit a family-run winery nestled among olive groves and citrus trees. Here, over a long, relaxing lunch, we’ll sample organic wines produced in the foothills of Sierra Nevada — crisp whites and bold reds, all paired with regional dishes made with heart and heritage. On our return to Almuñécar, we’ll make a fascinating stop at the Montero Rum Distillery, one of the few rum producers in all of Europe. Here, you’ll learn how sugarcane, once a colonial export, now fuels a thriving Andalusian spirit, with tastings of their signature dark and golden rums — rich, warming, and undeniably Spanish.
Today’s adventure takes us high into the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Alpujarras — a string of enchanting whitewashed villages clinging to the hillsides. We begin in Capileira, the highest and most remote of the trio, where time seems to stand still. Here, narrow winding lanes weave between houses built in the traditional Berber style — flat roofs, stone walls, and crooked chimneys that whisper tales from Al-Andalus. We continue to Bubión, a peaceful hamlet with sweeping valley views, and then to Pampaneira, where artisans still hand-weave colourful textiles on wooden looms just as they have since the Middle Ages. We’ll step inside a traditional weaver’s workshop to watch the rhythmic magic unfold.
Later, we’ll visit a historic medieval bodega, tucked into the hills, where wine, cheese, and cured meats are crafted using time-honoured techniques. In this cozy, cave-like setting, we’ll indulge in a tasting of sharp mountain cheeses, handcrafted wines, and a highlight of the region — curated Iberian ham, aged to perfection in the mountain air. The rich, marbled jamón melts on the tongue, offering a sublime taste of Andalucía’s artisanal heritage. On our way back to Almuñécar, we’ll stop at a unique tropical fruit farm, one of Continental Europe’s only coffee plantations. Here, among palm trees and sea breezes, we’ll learn how bananas, mangoes, papayas, and even avocados flourish in this rare microclimate. We’ll enjoy a hearty meal overlooking the fruit-laden fields, with views stretching across the coastal valley. The evening is yours to stroll, shop, or soak in the seaside charm of Almuñécar.
This morning we return to Granada, where we’ll explore the soulful Albayzín quarter — the city’s oldest district and a labyrinth of cobbled alleys, jasmine-scented courtyards, and viewpoints overlooking the Alhambra. We’ll wander along the Paseo de los Tristes, where the Alhambra looms above and flamenco music often drifts down from the caves of Sacromonte. Afterwards, enjoy some free time for shopping in the artisanal boutiques and spice-filled markets of the city center.
In the afternoon, we head back into the Lecrín Valley for a visit to an ancient Roman olive mill, where centuries-old stones still press olives into liquid gold. A guided olive oil tasting will reveal the nuances of flavour — peppery, grassy, buttery — and teach us why Andalucía produces some of the world’s finest oils. Then, as we wind our way back to Almuñécar, we stop at the fabled Smuggler’s Cove — a dramatic, secluded beach once used by pirates and spice traders. The rugged cliffs and crystalline waters make for stunning photos and a chance to breathe in the salty sea air. We’ll conclude the day with a late lunch at a beloved local restaurant perched above the sea, where Andalusian cuisine and coastal views combine in a moment of pure delight.
On our final full day, we set off for Nerja, a charming coastal town known for its cliffside vistas and turquoise coves. Our first stop is the famous Cueva de Nerja, a breathtaking natural wonder filled with ancient stalactites, prehistoric art, and cavernous halls that leave visitors speechless. From there, we continue to Frigiliana, one of Spain’s most beautiful white villages. Often called La Villa de las Tres Culturas — the village of the three religions — Frigiliana preserves a rich history of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish coexistence, seen in its architecture and winding Moorish streets. While here, we’ll visit a small artisan shop for a tasting of local Moscatel wine, sweet and golden, still made from sun-dried grapes grown on the hillsides nearby.
Later, we return to Nerja to explore its cobbled streets and shops, culminating in a visit to the Balcón de Europa, a spectacular viewpoint suspended over the sea. In the evening, we return to Almuñécar for a truly unforgettable finale — a night of wine, music, and passion in one of the town’s most authentic establishments, located in the historic Barrio Gitano(Gypsy Quarter). Here, we’ll savour our final dinner accompanied by a live Flamenco show featuring some of Granada’s most renowned performers. It’s an experience that stirs the soul — the rhythmic stomp of heels, the wail of the guitar, the haunting cry of the cante jondo — a fitting and fiery end to our Andalusian journey.
After breakfast, private transfers will be provided to Málaga Airport for departures. As we part ways, we hope this journey has not only inspired your heart but sparked new business ideas and unforgettable itineraries for your clients.
