Join us for our Iceland Family Camp! We will have twelve families spending the week together visiting one of the most incredible landscapes on earth… which also happens to be one of the best spots to travel with kids.
Together, we will share seven days and six nights exploring and enjoying Iceland together. The scenery is out of this world, each stop on the itinerary has been a firm favourite of ours for years, and somehow, all of our kids are happy. It’s a special week with some amazing families and we hope you’ll add to that magic.
Family camp is a mix of group fun and your own family time. Each day, we will have various activities and meetups where we will all spend time together. However, we also have good time for down moments In you own little apartment.
Please note that you will be renting your car and self-driving to each of these places. It’s the BEST way to do it. We promise.
You’re always welcome to pivot from the itinerary and take care of your family, when those moments arise. (We have kids- we get it!)
One meal each day will be provided- either lunch or dinner, depending on the itinerary
For those 3+, you’ll receive a ticket to the Blue Lagoon. (Children/parents not swimming can relax in the cafe overlooking the lagoon.)
Adventure out into a lagoon of icebergs in an amphibian boat
We’ll ferry to the Westmann Islands and visit the Lava Museum (which is very cool)
Enjoy a day visiting the three main sites of Iceland: Geysir, Thingvellir & Gulfoss
See you in Iceland!
Today, we meet up at the arrivals area in the airport at Keflavik. (This is the major airport for Iceland!) Please be there by 1pm.
We’ll head out along the coast towards Vik, with lots of stop for food, wiggly legs and pretty sites along the way. You’ll see some the most famous waterfalls in Iceland- Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss.
When we arrive to Vik, you‘ll have time to settle into your apartment and get some groceries in the shopping center in town.
This evening, we’ll have dinner as a group and have an easy night after a long day of travel.
This morning, breakfast is at the apartments before we head out for our ferry to the Westmann Islands. We’ll ditch the cars and opt for a boat for the journey, today.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see some puffins while we are out today- this is where they like to roost.
Once we arrive to the Westmann Islands, we will visit the Lava Museum (which, in our opinion, is as cool as it sounds). Afterwards, we’ll have some pizza for lunch as a group and then you’ll have some time to explore on your own afterwards.
The ferry back will be one last shot to see the stunning views of Iceland from the sea, and upon arrival- we will head back to Vik.
Dinner is on your own this evening. Feel free to use groceries from the store or head into some of the small stop for dinner nearby.
Today, we will head out for the destination that will take us to the most eastern point in our trip to Iceland- Jokurlsarlon. This is a famous glacial bay that offers stunning views of a glacier, as well as the icebergs that have broken off in the bay surrounding it.
We’ll get to see the glacial bay up close in amphibian boats, as well as sparkling ice chunks that have drifted towards the coast and now lay littered along Diamond Beach.
Lunch will be together as a group while we are out today, and the later afternoon will be a relaxed time at the apartments for kids to play together and adults to hang out.
Dinner tonight is on your own.
Today We head to Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park, where we can do a family-friendly hike to Svartifoss, the black waterfalls.
The trails are gentle and you’re welcome to rest along the way, if things get a bit rigourous for little legs. There is also a visitor’s centre and cafe where some can wait, if they only want to go halfway.
Lunch will be at Skaftafell before heading out to see the glacier tongue at Svinafell Glacier, where you can walk along a path that runs alongside the glacier. The views here are unbelievable!
Dinner will be together as a group this evening on our way back towards Vik.
This morning, we’ll head out a bit earlier to get a good jump on the day! Be ready to leave at 9am.
Today, we’ll hit up the main spot along the famous Golden Circle: Gulfoss, Thingvellir National Park & Geysir. In a few short hours, you’ll see the largest waterfall in Iceland, where the tectonic plates for North America and Europe meet, as well as the original “Geysir” that gave the name to all others in the world.
Be ready for a lunch along the way at our favourite little greenhouse + horse farm, Friðheimar. It’s not only a great lunch, but a fun way to see in person how an island made out of ice and lava can sustain its population with the clever use of geothermal energy.
In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive to Reykjavik and be dropped off at the hotel. After check-in, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to explore town together and find dinner while you’re out and about.
Our last day together starts with a morning on your own to visit Reykjavik as you like.
After lunch (don’t miss your shot to try to the famous Icelandic hotdog stand by the wharf!), we will head out towards Keflavik and visit the Blue Lagoon for your chance to experience the world famous milky lagoon.
After you’ve soaked to your hearts content, we’ll head back to Reykjavik for one last dinner together. We’ll say goodbye at dinner and enjoy a sappy stroll back to the hotel together where we’ll hug goodbye for good, as tomorrow guests will get up and depart on their own.
This morning, we’ll officially be concluded from group activities, but you’re still welcome to hang around until check-out at 11am.
If you need help arranging a transfer for your departure from Keflavik airport, we are happy to send recommendations of taxi companies that can help.
