Back by popular demand… our original family camp in Normandy, France. The last three years, we blew the top off this week with 7 days of family fun.
This year, we are fine-tuning the week to make it even easier for families to really relax in one of the best places in Europe. Come join us for a special week together in Normandy, France!
Fresh pastries from the boulangerie
One other (delicious!) meal will be provided each day for everyone in your family!
If we are going somewhere as a group, everything will be prearranged, booked and paid for.
6 Nights at the family resort where the group is staying
We will have a large bus to meet in Paris at 1pm on the 27th and another to return you to Paris on the late afternoon of the 3rd
We will meet you in Paris!
These will be rented in Caen for the week for your family to have the best option for getting to/from spots as you like!
All those cute Eiffel Tower keychains and berets are on your own dime!
At 1pm, we will meet near the Champs Elysees. We will load our bags on the buses and head to Normandy together.
Along the way, we will stop in Caen to collect our rental cars. Afterwards, we will make a dash to the grocery store to collect anything you may want to have on hand for the week- coffee, snacks, or easy lunches on our days when we have free lunch time.
Once we arrive to the resort, we will check in and get settled in to our houses near Bayeux, we will have dinner provided by a local chef. The evening is free to relax and let kids play… as much as they can before they collapse in bed after a big day of travel!
Today, enjoy a relaxing morning at the property while we shuttle people to/from the rental car companies to get their cars. Kids can swim or play, and parents can unpack and/or hang out in the large communal gardens.
Lunch today will be a brunch at one of the most incredible cider farms. Bring your appetite!
Once everyone has full bellies, we will depart for the Memorial de Caen. This is an incredibly well-done museum that we love before exploring in tandem to seeing the D-Day beaches. It gives great context to the war, and is family-friendly.
This evening, dinner is on your own. Feel free to explore Caen, grab a spot in Bayeux or fix somenthing in your kitchen at the resort.
If we get back and it’s not too late, come out to the communal garden and join in for the family BINGO night. Prizes to be won
Pastries in the garden- fresh from the bakery!
This morning, we will head out to the D-Day beaches. We’ll drive north and then work our way down from Utah Beach. We will stop along the way at La Pointe du Hoc, St Mere Eglise, Omaha Beach & ending the day at the The American Cemetery. We’ll see the major sites of this famous battleground, and have some really special moments to show our children more about this moment in time.
(Parents, you have notice now to watch/rewatch Band of Brothers before we go. It’s fantastic!)
Lunch will be provided in St Mere Eglise.
This evening, dinner is on your own! Feel free to relax at your house after a long day, drag a picnic in the communal area to see who else is around or drive into nearby Bayeux for dinner out.
Another day in Normandy, another morning of pastries in the garden!
Today, we’ll depart for Deauville. Bring any beach gear that makes your day out a bit better. (Toys can be easily purchased there at local shops at affordable prices, if you want!)
Lunch is on your own, as people will enjoy exploring this gorgeous town as much as being at the beach.
In the afternoon, we’ll wander to the ice cream shops for a little scoop of ice cream and have time to play games on the beach.
Dinner this evening will be provided by a local chef and delivered for a relaxing night in after you return. Dads can have a round of golf on the golf course at the property- truly stunning with sweeping views of the coast and the French countryside.
!
Today, we will have breakfast in our houses… or wander out to the communal garden and find us fresh from the patisserie with our morning haul.
We will head out, via rental car caravan, to Mont St Michel today. Along the way, we will stop in the small town of Villedieu-les-Poeles for lunch and then hit the famous UNESCO site/town for the afternoon.
Wander the winding streets of this incredible medieval city and stroll along the ramparts for sweeping views. Once you’ve climbed to the top and visited the abbey, head down for a walk through the silt that surrounds the city. (Pack some flip flops in your tote to change into afterwards!)
Then we will head back for the resort where dinner is a local food truck serving up delicious food on demand for our group.
Tonight, any mom up for learning/playing mahjong will meet up after dinner.
We’ll have a relaxed morning where you can swim at the resort, drive in on your own to visit Bayeux‘s tapestry and cathedral, or retrace your steps at any spot we have previous visited.
Today, we’ll have lunch at the restaurant of our friends in Bayeaux. Enjoy savoury crepes- famous in this region- alongside the lovely river. We started coming here years ago and have enjoyed watching our families grow up alongside each other.
Come back and take some time to pack your things, as our departure tomorrow comes early.
This evening, we will celebrate the Fourth of July with our third annual Family Olympics! (More details to come…) Expect games, prizes, matching outfits for your family… and lots of laughs. No real athletic ability needed. ;)
Dinner tonight will be prepared and served on site by a local chef.
Mahjong with moms and/or drinks with dads to follow post-bedtime as the kids play and we make a mild attempt to pack our bags.
Today, we pack up and head back to Paris. (Pastries in the garden first, of course!)
If you need to get back to Paris, you’ll either hop on a bus with the early crew and head out by 8:30. *This may be a train, if the group is quite small. TBD.
If you’re up for continuing the adventure, the later group will depart the resort at 10:00 for Paris. You’ll stop in Giverny for lunch. There will be time here to visit the house and gardens of Monet.
*If you’d like tickets to visit Monet’s house and gardens (you want to, I promise!), please select this option when you check out.
Arrival back to Paris will be approximately 4pm. Please do not book flights before 9pm on this day, if you’re traveling on further on this day.
Upon arrival to Paris, you’ll be dropped off near the Champs Elysees. This will be the conclusion of all official plans.
