Join Brinson Leigh Kresge and Morgan Pace Bolton for an unforgettable family yoga retreat!
Expand your family’s sense of the larger world while nurturing deeper connections and harmonious living within your household. Join us as we delve into the transformative power of family yoga, meditation, and mindfulness in magical Samara Beach, Costa Rica!
Spend 4 days / 3 nights at the beautiful Villas Espavel, a small retreat village tucked away just outside the small town of Samara. Just a 5 minute walk from the Pacific-side tropical beach of Samara, this home away from home is the perfect jumping off point to explore all things sand and surf as well as the surrounding lush rainforest, which teems with tropical plants and wildlife.
Immerse yourself in daily adult yoga and meditation with Leigh while your child/children playfully explores creative yoga and mindfulness classes with Morgan. Enjoy 3 delicious meals a day created by our onsite local mother and daughter chef duo, Christine and Paulina, whom use ingredients from their own garden and local sources to create loving dishes that will feed your body and soul.
Each day, have your choice of adventure! If you are in the mood to stay close to home: play in the kid friendly pool, take a cooking class, lounge in a hammock, explore the creek, or ride the zipline --- all on-site. For local adventures: sign up for surf lessons (kids surfing lessons with our very own Paulina!), kayak, paddle board, ride horses, take turtle hatching or dolphin tours, or just let your kids frolic in the shallow, gentle surf while you relax in the shade.
Each evening we’ll come together to connect as a bigger family and discuss ways in which we can cultivate the loving presence that keeps our family bonds strong amidst our busy daily lives.
If you are craving fun, meaningful experiences, and intentional family time --- >>> This is the retreat for you!
** This retreat is appropriate for many family configurations regardless of size and age of children.
Leigh’s approach to teaching is influenced by her unique perspective as an artist and active world traveler, and further shaped by her fascination with the confluence of Eastern philosophy, Western psychology, and the psychosomatic experience of our existence.
Her deep well of practice and teaching experience in movement, introspective practices, and yoga is grounded in her roles as a professional dancer and choreographer, senior Mysore Ashtanga instructor at Ashtanga Yoga Richmond, Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Consultant, trained death doula, Mindfulness Instructor at Richmond’s Institute of Contemporary Art, and as Adjunct Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
She enjoys teaching in a variety of contexts: leading retreats, workshops, teacher trainings as well as in the classroom or yoga shala. Regardless of location and modality she seeks to apply the one on one intimacy and pedagogically sound methodology provided in the Mysore-Ashtanga system, a creative spirit, and by consciously bringing death into a more holistic conversation about living.
Leigh has dedicated most of her adult life to exploring these realms via: the daily Ashtanga practice that she has maintained for seventeen years; exploration of vinyasa and principles of martial arts; pranayama and meditation practices; participation in a number of five and ten day silent meditation retreats; six multiple-month trips to India to completely immerse herself in
Ayurvedic and yogic study; and living, studying, teaching yoga in Japan for over two years, and her training as a death doula.
The subcurrents of impermanence and the psychosomatic interaction inherent in Ashtanga yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, and pranayama are woven into the fabric of all of Leigh’s teaching modalities, her poetry, her other artistic expressions, and her daily life.
With profound gratitude she recognizes those teachers who continue to impact her life expression: Rolf and Marci Naujokat, Sharath Jois, David Frawley, Alaknanada Puri (Gangotri), and Pat Buxton.
Leigh is a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider.

Morgan is a children’s yoga & mindfulness teacher based in Portland, Oregon. She teaches preschoolers and elementary school aged kids how to be aware of their breath, bodies, and minds.
In our ever busy distracted world Morgan aims to guide our future generation in learning life long skills of being in the present moment, having compassion for oneself and others, and learning physical and mental balance through asana and meditation. She embraces kids as they are, letting them feel seen and heard and encourages resilience by teaching that through our mistakes, we learn and grow.
The time spent immersed in connection and mindfulness with children in day camps and overnight retreats is one of her favorite ways to connect with children and their parents.
Morgan holds a 200hr yoga teacher training certificate from Love Hive Yoga, studies in Primal Vinyasa with Annie Adamson and enjoys Kundalini yoga. However, the greatest teachers on her path have been her two kids, now 8 and 5 years old. Through their being, Morgan is inspired to embody all that she hopes for them to become.
Before moving into teaching children's yoga and mindfulness as her main focus, Morgan has been a professional photographer since 2005 and enjoys the creative process of connecting intimately with families and yogis and those wanting to capture their true shining light for a moment in time. She will be taking candid photography during the retreat and offering mini family photo sessions as well.
Morgan and Leigh met while working abroad in Japan almost a decade ago and formed a strong friendship through their shared love of travel, yoga, and art.
Early on in their friendship Leigh taught Morgan the Ashtanga Primary Series in her tiny apartment, which at Morgan’s urging, quickly expanded into teaching group classes on the rooftop, and later larger yoga and meditation classes at the neighborhood community center.
Concurrently, the pair dreamed up and actualized photo-shoots which combined Morgan’s background in photography and Leigh’s background in dance. For those Japan years, Morgan and Leigh would often be found together, making exploratory art in the streets of Osaka and engaged in editing and collaboration processes that led to participation in local art shows and the publication of their art online.
Time passed, Morgan and Leigh left Japan, but as life would have it they went on to have both their first and second children within months of each other and have stayed closely connected, sharing their journey of life and motherhood long distance across the United States.
This Family Yoga Retreat is a culmination of Leigh and Morgan’s many years of learning, discipline, and practice as connected to experiences gained through their lives living abroad and their continuing dedication to the practice of yoga and that of parenting. They are beyond excited to come together with their families during this unique retreat experience.
