Bring your father out for a day trip up the scenic great river road and explore some history. Leaving from the Onalaska American legion at 10 am we will head to the The Rock in the House (not to be confused with the house on the rock) in Fountain City, WI. Here you will find a Home where on April 24, 1995 a large disc shaped boulder, weighing in at 55 Tons smashed into the master bedroom and still resides today. Our next stop takes us to One of the Largest Pedal Car Displays in the Country at Elmer's Auto & Toy Museum. But don' t be fooled its not just pedal cars on display they also have over 100 muscle, antique, classic cars and trucks, and thousands of antique toys and tools. Elmer's Auto & Toy Museum is one of the largest museums of its kind in the country and a fantastic attraction every family member will enjoy! Family owned and operated since 1994, Elmer's Museum is located on Eagle Bluff, which is the highest point along the Mississippi River. The view of the river valley is one of the best in the area!
After spending much of the day at the museum i'm sure you all will be hungry so from here we will head further up the Great river road to Nelson, Wi. Hidden in the rolling hills of the Mississippi River Valley, surrounded by forests and open fields we will get to the Stone Barn. From here we will head back home back down the great river road with a stop off at one of the areas oldest Irish Pubs, The Monarch Public House. Nestled in the Fountain City bluffs along the Mississippi River, The Monarch Public House has been a destination for travelers since 1894. Try some great imports or their very own brews. Then its back to the Onalaska American legion.
