What is Fé-Cations?

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be challenging to sacrifice valuable vacation time for a week-long mission trip. Fortunately, a Fé-Cation offers the perfect solution. This term blends the Spanish word for "faith" with the English word "vacation," and is the perfect combination of mission trip and vacation. These experience-rich packages allow you to enjoy an exciting vacation in Mexico while also ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of the local community!

Who's Behind It?

Alan and Rebecca Morris have a combined total of more than 60 years of experience in Christian ministry. In addition to their work in the United States, they have also served in over 50 countries. Now in their "retirement years," they have chosen to focus their efforts on helping the less fortunate in Mexico. In addition, Trisha Cruz - a passionate traveler, content creator, and travel coordinator with a knack for bringing people together. Originally from Iowa, she traded cold winters for the warmth of Huntington Beach, California, before setting her sights on Mexico. With years of experience organizing trips—from private getaways to large group adventures—she has helped countless travelers explore new destinations, whether for weddings, family vacations, girls’ trips, or corporate retreats.

As the face behind @mytrishadvisor, Trish has been sharing her adventures through YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, offering travel tips and showcasing the beauty of the places she visits. Now, she’s taking it a step further by collaborating with Fe-Cations, a unique volunteer-travel experience that blends purpose with paradise. 

Where Is This Based? 

Puerto Morelos (PM) is a small town located about 20 min from the Cancun airport and 30 minutes away from Playa Del Carmen.  The small town feel with the closeness to larger towns and an international airport draws a lot of people to come to visit, move to and explore this area! We have stunning sunrises and colorful sunsets with the 2nd largest reef in the WORLD right offshore!  The people that live here are what really makes this town so special!  You will feel right at home with everyone making you feel welcome, while also expanding your faith to this beautiful beach town!

How Will Our Volunteer Work Help?

The first priority is crisis assistance, which encompasses medical aid, hunger relief, and disaster services. The second priority is community engagement and empowerment, offering services such as English-language classes, vocational training, community events, and educational opportunities. The final priority is global church growth, which promotes cooperation among churches to address community needs and achieve shared goals. Your volunteer work will make a difference in all these goals we set for change!

Trish & Fe-Cations

I encourage people to travel to Mexico despite the negative media.  We want you to feel safe as possible and know that we can not control everything but want to do the best we can!  So first we do want to mention we will need proof of travel insurance for your stay. 

We want to take into consideration of weather issues and closures due to issues beyond our control but please remember travel doesn't always go as planned.  Please be patient if we have to make any travel changes along the way. 

Since this is a trip of volunteer work, faith and fun, we want to make sure you're as prepared for travel as you can be!

Additionally, the tour is listed as a package, and no price adjustments will be given if someone wants to "opt-out" of an included activity. 

You will secure your spot with a $200 USD deposit.  The deposit is non-refundable and the remaining balance is due in increments of a payment plan.

We have a payment program that after the deposit you can break the balance into 3 payments to make it easier for those that may not have the money all at once! 

 During your Fe-Cations experience, you’ll stay in one of two comfortable vacation rentals located right in the heart of central Puerto Morelos, just a 5-minute drive from the beach and town square. You'll be close to local shops, restaurants, and the church where we’ll be serving, making it easy to immerse yourself in the community. Each accommodation offers a cozy, authentic atmosphere with essential amenities to ensure a relaxing stay after a day of volunteering and adventure. Whether you’re enjoying quiet time or connecting with fellow travelers, this will be your perfect home base for the week!

Getting around:

Walking distance to everything!

The location of the rental is about 5 minute drive from the beachside! Puerto Morelos is very small so you will be able to walk about 10 minutes down the beach to be at the main pier area.  This is also where the famous "Puerto Morelos" sign is to take lots of photos! 

Walk a 1 block more from the pier and you go to our very well-equipped grocery store called Chedraui! You can stock up on snacks, fruit, and any other items you might want while staying at the hotel.  With in walking distance, we have a local fruit stand that makes fresh juices daily! 

Taxi prices:

To La Colonia: $50 - $70 pesos

Playa Del Carmen / Cancun: $600 Pesos

Collectivos: $10 pesos

These are vans that act as small buses to get around.  If you are a little more adventurous and want to save money you can take this for $10 pesos a person from the beachside to the Colonia side of Puerto Morelos.  This is the part of town that is where the people that live here full time live for the most part. It's safe!

In the event that you need to cancel your trip, these fees will be applied:  

 • Between Now - May 1st, We retain only the non-refundable deposit ($200) 

 • Between May 2nd till June 1st, We retain 50% of the tour price. 

 • Between June 2nd till July 1st, We retains 75% of the tour price. 

 • Between July 2nd and till departure date, We retain 100% of the entire tour price.

A single room for the duration of the trip is an extra cost of $250. -- This can not be canceled or refunded closer than 60 days prior to your trip.  

Fly into Cancun (CUN)
Heading to your hotel in Puerto Morelos which is about a 30 min drive.
 
Airport Shuttle
We will ask prior to the trip about your flight details and put you on a shuttle preferably before 3pm. (As this would be optimal for arrival time). If you would like to come at a different time or from a different location, we can help to arrange that for an additional cost.

7:30pm Welcome Dinner is served, Welcome gifts are given. (Potluck Food provided by church and one drink included). Additional drinks are on you.

After Snorkeling (12:30pm -1:00pm) : Lunch Beachside (Not Included)

2-5pm: Free for Outreach Time

The rest of the evening you are able to explore the little town, enjoy the beach and then have dinner on your own time and schedule! You will have the evening to yourself for dinner.  We will have lots of recommendations ready for you so do not worry!  One thing we are NOT short on in Puerto Morelos is places to eat! You will see others on the trip and don't be afraid to ask them to join you for dinner and make new friends!

 What To Know:

• No chemical SUNBLOCK!!  Wear long sleeves or a REEF SAFE rash guard. For time in the sun be sure to bring hats and such. If you must wear sunblock only REEF SAFE BIODEGRADABLE is allowed. Please apply it 20 to 30 minutes before snorkeling to allow time for it to soak into your skin OR apply AFTER the snorkeling activity.
• Bring a refillable water container to reduce plastic waste.

• Waterproof case for phone (If Needed)

-Visit 2 cenotes (underground rivers) with ATV and ziplining (Return by 1 pm)

The rest of the afternoon you are able to explore the little town, enjoy the beach and then have dinner on your own time and schedule.
