GOOP | April 2019
"Imagine a hilltop in Tuscany—the kind with views so spectacular that UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage Site, the kind with charming centuries-old buildings, the kind you dream about in the movie version of your trip. And while we’re indulging this fantasy, let’s add that the interiors have giant bathtubs, high thread counts, and the kind of preternatural beauty that could be its own coffee-table book. This hilltop exists. It’s a hamlet of a town called Castiglioncello del Trinoro. Population: sixteen, give or take. And virtually every building in this hamlet comprises Monteverdi, a boutique hotel slash spa slash wine bar slash world-class restaurant. The place is so spectacular that we quickly run out of superlatives. But know this: The spa—which includes an underground heated pool based on ancient Roman baths, a sensory shower, a cold plunge pool, a heated room with treatments inspired by a hammam, and outdoor travertine soaking tubs with views of all the valley—will make you feel like Emperor Augustus."
DEPARTURES | MAY 2019
"Stepping inside the ancient walls of Monteverdi Tuscany is transformative. The boutique hotel, which is spread out throughout the villas and old-world buildings of the little village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, is unlike anything else you might experience in the world. As a Unesco World Heritage Site, the windows of each carefully designed room (courtesy of Italian designer Ilaria Miani, a friend and collaborator of director Wes Anderson) reveal sweeping views of the rolling Val d’Orcia hills and vibrant greenery. It’s no wonder Anderson penned the entirety of The Grand Budapest Hotel here."
There are three excellent options for traveling to Monteverdi:
Specific instructions for all three options are available by contacting the concierge directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
A non-refundable $1500 deposit per person is required to secure your space on this retreat, with the balance due by September 16th, 2019 (four weeks prior to the start date). After this date, payment in full is required when registering.
Cancellations prior to 8 weeks will receive a refund of monies paid, less the $1500 deposit. Cancellations within 8 weeks of retreat date are non-refundable, with any outstanding balance fully payable. Since last-minute injuries, illnesses, or emergencies, do happen, we highly recommend travel insurance.
*Choose this option if you would like to pay for you and your roommate, and simply have your roommate Venmo you for their half. This option will allow you to guarantee a spot for both you and your roommate in the event that the retreat sells out quickly. We recommend you work this out beforehand so all parties know what is expected of them as far as payment and booking. Please specify who will be staying in the room with you along with their contact information.
*Choose this option if you want a room all to yourself!
