Este año será la 65ª edición de la Feria de Cali, considerada como la fiesta más importante de fin de año en Colombia y uno de los mejores festivales musicales del continente americano. Se llevará a cabo como de costumbre la última semana del año, entre el 25 y el 30 de Diciembre de 2022.
Originalmente esta feria era conocida como Feria de la Caña de Cali y se realizó por vez primera en 1957. La idea surgió para recuperar el espíritu local, tras la pavorosa tragedia del 7 de Agosto de 1956. Desde entonces la ciudad de Cali celebra la vida y la alegría es el motor de su desarrollo.
Hoy en día la Feria de Cali genera cerca de 10.000 puestos de trabajo y asisten al evento más de dos millones de personas de Colombia y el mundo, siendo uno de los destinos turísticos preferidos de Colombia para fin de año.
La programación de la Feria de Cali comienza con el tradicional “Salsódromo”, que sustituye a la cabalgata como acto inaugural. En esta presentación, miles de bailarines de las mejores escuelas de salsa desfilan con coreografías alusivas a este género, a lo largo de cerca de kilómetro y medio de graderías.
El programa también ofrece una exclusiva Feria Taurina con los mejores toreros del mundo. Las corridas de toros son sin duda una de las actividades esenciales de estas fiestas, aunque, por las nuevas corrientes de los grupos animalistas, aclaramos que este vento pudiera no realizarse más. Se llevan a cabo en la Plaza de Cañaveralejo a partir del 26 de Diciembre hasta los primeros días de Enero.
Otro evento es el Superconcierto de cierre, en el que se presentan cada año orquestas de Cuba, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana, Estados Unidos y Colombia. Este evento que tiene como sede el Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero. Simultáneamente, en la Feria de Cali, se realizan concursos de belleza, concurso de orquestas, feria gastronómica y selección del tema musical de la feria.
Además, durante estas fechas se realiza el Carnaval de Cali Viejo para rendir tributo a los personajes que marcaron el desarrollo de la ciudad de Cali. En los últimos años los poseedores de autos clásicos los exhiben en el ya tradicional Desfile del Autos Clásicos y Antiguos.

The Carnival of Blacks and Whites was declared in 2009 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is the largest and most important festival in southern Colombia. It is celebrated from January 2 to 7 in San Juan de Pasto, capital of the department of Nariño in the southwest of Colombia. However, many municipalities and populations of that department have adopted it as their own.
The Carnival of Blacks and Whites has its origin in the fusion of multiple cultures and expressions, corresponding to the Andes, the Amazon, and the Pacific culture. The carnival was born in the 16th century in the year 1546. This fact characterizes it and distinguishes it from other similar expressions, starting with the date on which it is held, which has a distinctly indigenous origin, since it coincides with the celebration of the Moon ( Quilla), which is reminiscent of the rituals performed by the pastures and the keel singas, agrarian cultures that, at harvest time, honored the moon with dances, and in other rituals made prayers to the sun, to protect their crops.
Today, the Carnival of Blacks and Whites brings together events such as the Song to the Earth to celebrate the harvests, the Carnavalito of comparsas and children's floats, the White Parade and the Black Parade, which commemorate the first settlements of Europeans and Africans. in this area, and the Castañeda Family Parade, which honors the first families of settlers that arrived in this region of southern Colombia.
