Programación de la Programming of the Flower Fair 2022

Although the total event lasts ten days, our tour package for visitors from other countries includes the final five days, which is when the most important and representative activities of this one of the most striking Fairs, Parties, and Carnivals of Colombia, take place and, which It has been declared by Unesco as part of the Intangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Every day of the Fair, dozens of art shows are presented in different stages of the city of Medellín. Most of them, in addition, are free. Travel Discover Colombia has built this wonderful experience for our clients, including transfers, accommodation, excursions, activities, partial meals, and entrance to the most important events of the Flower Fair, which, by the way, are of limited capacity and not exactly entry free.

Among the most important events of the Flower Fair are:

Aunque el evento total dura diez días, nuestro paquete turístico para visitantes de otros países incluye los cinco días finales, que es cuando se desarrollan las actividades más importantes y representativas de esta, una de las más llamativas Ferias Fiestas y Carnavales de Colombia y, que ha sido declarada por la Unesco como parte del Patrimonio Cultural Intangible e Inmaterial de la Humanidad.

Todos los días de la Feria se presentan decenas de espectáculos artísticos en diferentes escenarios de la ciudad de Medellín, la mayoría de ellos, además, son gratuitos. Travel Discover Colombia ha construido esta maravillosa experiencia para nuestros clientes incluyendo traslados, alojamiento, excursiones, actividades, alimentación parcial y entrada a los eventos más importantes de la Feria de las Flores, que, por cierto, son de capacidad limitada y no precisamente de entrada gratuita.

This year will be the 65th edition of the Cali Fair, considered the most important end-of-the-year party in Colombia and one of the best music festivals in the American continent. It will occur as usual the last week of the year, between December 25 and 30, 2022.

Originally this fair was known as Feria de la Caña de Cali and was held for the first time in 1957. The idea arose to recover the local spirit after the terrifying tragedy of August 7, 1956. Since then, the city of Cali has celebrated life, and joy is the engine of its development.

Today the Cali Fair generates about 10,000 jobs. More than two million people from Colombia and the world attended the event, being one of the preferred tourist destinations in Colombia for the end of the year.

The Cali Fair program begins with the traditional "Salsódromo", which replaces the parade as the opening act. In this presentation, thousands of dancers from the best salsa schools’ parade with choreographies alluding to this genre, along nearly a kilometer and a half of bleachers.

The program also offers an exclusive Bullfighting Fair with the best bullfighters in the world. Bullfights are undoubtedly one of the essential activities of these festivals, although, due to the new trends of animal groups, we clarify that this event could no longer occur. They take place in the Plaza de Cañaveralejo from December 26 until the first day of January.

Another event is the closing Superconcert, in which orchestras from Cuba, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the United States, and Colombia perform each year. The Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium hosts this event. Simultaneously, at the Cali Fair, beauty contests, an orchestra contest, a gastronomic fair, and a selection of the fair's musical themes are held.

In addition, during these dates, the Cali Viejo Carnival is held to pay tribute to the characters that marked the development of the city of Cali. In recent years, owners of classic cars have exhibited them in the now traditional Parade of Classic and Antique Cars.

Cancelaciones del viaje por parte del pasajero ocasionarán estas penalidades

Silleteros y silletas

Los silleteros son campesinos de las áreas rurales del hoy departamento de Antioquía y las afueras de Medellín, que su principal producción agrícola son las flores. Los silleteros bajaban de las montañas antioqueñas a vender sus flores en las plazas, parques y mercados de Medellín.

Las silletas son la exaltación y preservación de la forma de transporte que se usó en la colonia para surcar las alturas andinas. Son el símbolo del valor, resistencia y capacidad humana para vencer y dominar el entorno.

Hoy las silletas son de cuatro tipos o categorías: Emblemática, Monumental, Comercial y Tradicional, por las que además los silleteros compiten en esta Feria de las Flores para ganar un galardón que es sin dudas, el más preciado reconocimiento a su labor campesina.

La Silleta Monumental es la más colorida, vistosa y grande. Se elabora con ramilletes de no menos de cuatro especies diferentes de flores. Es la evolución de la silleta tradicional. Sus flores nativas y exóticas van en ramilletes enteros, ubicadas sobre una estructura de madera forrada en pino; además, lleva una corona de flores alrededor con gladiolos y/o espigas.

La Silleta Emblemática tiene el objetivo de sensibilizar al público sobre aspectos de la sociedad. Se construye con flores pegadas o clavadas buscando que no se vea el cartón o la superficie donde van puestas. El emblema debe ir además ilustrado, lo que le aporta variedad en formas y texturas. Estilos: Plana y alto relieve.

La Silleta Comercial es una obra es encargada por una institución o empresa para que su marca aparezca en el Desfile de Silleteros o en las portadas y salones de bienvenida de empresas, instituciones y centros comerciales en cualquier momento del año. Es la única silleta que permite flores teñidas para poder ajustarse a los colores precisos de las marcas. Estilos: Plana y tridimensional.

La Silleta Tradicional puede medir hasta un metro de alto y alcanzar entre los 50Kg y 90 Kg. Esto hace que sean las más pequeñas y livianas de las cuatro categorías de silletas. Fue la silleta usada por los ancestros silleteros en las primeras versiones de su desfile. Lleva la mayor cantidad de flores nativas de la región, como mínimo 15 variedades de flores tradicionales distribuidas perfectamente en ramilletes enteros y amarrados en manojos

Silleteros y silletas

The silleteros are peasants from the rural areas of today's department of Antioquia and the outskirts of Medellín, whose primary agricultural production is flowers. Silleteros came down from the Antioquia mountains to sell their flowers in the squares, parks, and markets of Medellín.

The silletas are the exaltation and preservation of the form of transport used in the colony to cross the Andean heights. They are the symbol of courage, resistance, and human capacity to overcome and dominate the environment.

Today the silletas are of four types or categories: Emblematic, Monumental, Commercial, and Traditional, for which the silleteros also compete in this Flower Fair to win an award that is undoubtedly the most memorable recognition of their peasant work.

The Monumental Silleta is the most colorful, showy, and most significant. It is made with bouquets of no less than four different species of flowers. It is the evolution of the traditional saddle. Its native and exotic flowers go in entire bouquets, located on a wooden structure lined with pine; it also wears a flower crown around it with gladioli and/or spikes.

The Emblematic Silleta has the objective of sensitizing the public about aspects of society. It is built with flowers glued or nailed so that the cardboard or the surface where they are placed is not visible. The emblem must also be illustrated, which gives it variety in shapes and textures—styles: Flat and high relief.

La Silleta Comercial is a work commissioned by an institution or company so that its brand appears in the Silleteros Parade or on the covers and welcome rooms of companies, institutions, and shopping centers at any time of the year. It is the only saddle that allows flowers to be dyed to match the precise colors of the brands—styles: Flat and three-dimensional.

The Traditional Saddle can measure up to a meter high and reach between 50Kg and 90 Kg. This makes them the smallest and lightest of the four categories of saddles. It was the saddle used by the silleteros ancestors in the first versions of their parade. It bears the most significant number of native flowers in the region, with at least 15 traditional flowers perfectly distributed in whole bouquets and tied in bundles.
