About this trip

This full day experience takes place in the beautiful gem called Hermanus, in the Western Cape.

Tucked away in this ancient place lies the majestic Fernkloof Nature Reserve, home to the Hermanus Botanical Society, founded 60 years ago.?

This is where you will spend the day exploring any one of the 60km hiking routes that meander between incredible botanical gardens, breathtaking ocean views, ancient mountains and sacred natural gems. ?‍♀️

This trip is a full day experience, best enjoyed from the Crack of Dawn, well into the deep black, stary nights.

It takes about 2 hours to drive to the reserve, which is why we will leave early, as early as 6am so that you can really enjoy being out. ?

We'll arrange all the adminstrative stuff, supply you with maps, important information about the plants, birds and other life out there, as well as arranged special dinning  and other conditions. ?

Ready? Let's go! ?

Slow love, Self drive.

We're on a mission to make this journey simply... memorable!

So How do this work? ?‍♀️

Well, we take care of what's important, what's frustrating and any running about so that all you have to do is get yourself there, and have the best time ever!

That said, we'll take care of Gladys by the toll gate ? , or Winston at the front desk for check ins and check outs ?️. We will also work with the community, local authority and tour operators so that you have the security ? and, a peaceful mind to be  alone, but not alone! ?

Itinerary

The morning drive.
Morning Drive to Fernkloof (best taken from 6am)

Hermanus is around 1.5 hours drive from Cape Town Airport or 2 hours drive from the centre of Cape Town. Follow the N2 eastwards from Cape Town or westwards when coming from George and leave it near Caledon to join the R43.

Alternatively, if coming from Cape Town, join the R44 at Somerset West to drive via the beautiful coastal road that takes you through Gordon's Bay, Betty's Bay (stop off at the penguin colony here if you have time) and Kleinmond and links up with the R43.

Hiring a car is often much cheaper than hiring a shuttle service. You can rent a car, bike, bus or 4 x4 from us. 48 hour notice is required.

We've prepared a morning driving meditation along with a chilled road trip playlist to help you start your day in a balanced and positive energy kind of way!
