Join us for a unique opportunity to travel with Denver Sister Cities International delegation to the 2020 Maritime Festival in Brest, France that only happens every four years. Discover the Northwest Region of France and experience the highlights of Bretagne, Normandy and all the way to Paris, where the journey concludes.
This trip is an immersion into French lifestyle where you will explore tradition, food and culture of Bretagne. This includes authentic home cooking, fresh seafood caught daily, taste local wine, cider and their irresistible buttery pastries. Learn about the history of Bretagne and their deep Celtic roots.
Visit the must-see Caen Memorial and experience the American cemetery in Normandy where we will have a private ceremony to honor Colorado’s soldiers from WWII. This is a VIP experience, interacting with local members and City leaders as ambassadors of Denver.
The story of this trip begins 70 years ago. Denver and Brest is the second-oldest sister city relationship in the United States. The friendship with Brest, France, started in 1948 when a local Denver teacher visited WWII-ravaged Brest. She shared this with her students in Denver and the school children raised over $32,000 to help rebuild the children’s wing of Brest’s hospital. Now there is a strong Franco-American connection and community in both cities and this trip gives you an opportunity to be part of that.
"French people are grateful to Americans who fought along side and continue to be strong allies. We are delegates representing freedom for years to come! I am excited and honored to bring a delegation from Denver to this beautiful Region. This year, at the Maritime Festival we will explore a unique display of ships from all over the world. Looking forward to an exciting trip! On y va!!!”
