Fishing and the ocean are important elements in the Cape Verdean culture. Because of our location in the Atlantic ocean we have many different types of fish swimming around the islands. On many of the islands, you will find families who still make their living from fishing and provide for their families. Most Cape Verdeans are still very connected with the maritime world.
