In the spectacular andalusian mountains, located in a gorgeous green valley flanked by orange groves, you will find Molino del Rey. Is a one of a kind retreat venue. Lovingly converted from an old water mill, by the owners, Anthony and Lidiya, it features a natural salt water pool half nestled into a cave in the mountain side. A spring of the river “Rio Grande” is born nearby. From it, the purest of waters pour through the yoga centre forming waterfalls among the mountain flowers.
The rooms are tastefully designed by Anthony and Lidiya themselves, and the delicious and healthy meals are lovingly prepared. Enjoy the view of the valley and mountains while practicing in the peaceful, light-filled yoga shala.
There is plenty to explore in the area. From visiting Sevilla or Costa del Sol to hiking in the surrounding mountains there is something for everyone. But perhaps you just want to stay put. Find a quiet moment in the meditation caves, get a massage or simply relax in a hammock. This is a place where you have the feeling of having arrived. You don’t need to go anywhere else.
Expect a more vigorous class in the morning, interweaving mindfulness, meditation and philosophical explorations with a clear and safe approach to the physical practice. The afternoon classes will be slower and quieter and will include a deep restorative practice. Maja's expert guidance will ensure that you have a rewarding and meaningful experience regardless of whether you are a beginner or have been practicing yoga for years.
All rooms include en-suite bathrooms, balconies, warm/cold air conditioning, superbly comfortable beds, ceiling fans, tea making facilities, safes, hair dryers, alarm clocks, electric blinds etc.
The studio is 100m2 with wooden parquet flooring and occupies and extraordinary position, hand-cut out of the mountain, floor to ceiling windows with views across the valley and a door leading into the inner stillness of the caves. The latter serves as natural air conditioning when it’s hot. Under floor Central Heating available for colder weather. The studio has incredible acoustics for working with sound, and is fully equipped with yoga props.
The restaurant includes a lovely, relaxing balcony looking out towards the coast over the beautiful green valley. To keep up with modern life, it also boasts a TV room and possibility of wireless internet (WI-FI). It can also be the perfect place to gather to discuss the day's activities over a drink or two.
The magical "Grotto" pool is equipped with an automatic Sea Water System & contains no chlorine. It also has it’s own natural waterfall.
For a nominal fee, one has the option of relaxing in the pool-side 14 seater sauna.
The whole mountain is honeycombed with caves. There are meditation caves on the property itself and many other caves nearby to be explored by the adventurous yogi!

“As a teacher I seek to connect with my students, to meet them where they are and to share my knowledge of yoga in a way that speaks to them. I teach an alignment conscious, breath-led, intelligent flow with a light-hearted touch. I’d like to instill a spirit of inquisitiveness and provide a safe space for my students to explore and challenge themselves both on a physical as well as mental/emotional/spiritual level.”
Maja started practicing yoga in her hometown of Stockholm, Sweden more than 20 years ago. After moving to NYC she was drawn to delve deeper into the practice of yoga and completed her first teacher training at OM yoga center in 2006 where she then joined the teaching faculty. Since then she has completed her 500 hr certification, also at OM yoga center, as well as many other trainings such as Restorative yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater, Anatomy studies with Leslie Kaminoff at the Breathing Project and Prenatal teacher training with Bec Conant. In the summer of 2017 Maja relocated to Mainz, Germany where she is currently teaching classes and workshops.

Maja's classes offer a perfect combination of exploration, challenge, and care. I've been practicing yoga for over 15 years, and Maja will always be my favorite teacher because of the exceptional creativity, knowledge, and warmth she brings to each class. In Maja's classes, I could safely explore and expand my yoga practice, gaining strength and flexibility in my mind and body, with expert guidance and encouragement. Students at any level would benefit from Maja's inspiring classes. (Sigrid Von Wendel, NYC)
Maja embodies the rare yoga combination of technical expertise and a style I describe as flow joy! She knows alignment, gently offering hands-on adjustments and suggesting alternative poses for varying needs. What I love most about practicing with her, though, is the flow of poses and transitions and the energized feeling during and after a class with her. Maja is a unique soul and I'd travel far for her grace, humor and expertise! (Shannon Curry Hartmann, NYC)
Lying in Shavasana at the end of my first class with Maja, I remember thinking, “that was the best yoga class I have ever taken.” I had just moved to NYC and had tried three different yoga studios with at least eight different teachers. But once I met Maja I knew that she was the teacher for me. Her classes always strike the perfect balance between mindfulness and physicality. I always leave feeling positive, energized and excited for the rest of my day. Her optimism, humor, generosity and care for each student results in a harmonious group energy and therefore a fantastic practice.
(Hannah Cook, NYC)
Maja’s classes are invariably challenging but gentle, inspiring me to constantly grow as a yogini and as a compassionate human being. Her classes welcomes newcomers to yoga as well as seasoned practitioners, always allowing for adjustments that make sense for our individual bodies, challenges, and goals. Her loving presence inspires all of us.
