About this trip

Sink into Spring with a day of yoga, flower crafting, mead tastings and light lunch fare in Point Reyes Station! The day begins with an invigorating all levels yoga practice set amongst Heidrun Meadery's flower fields followed by a short tour of the farm and apiary led by Farm Manager, Savanna Smith. We'll transition to the Olive Grove to taste through some of Heidrun's award winning sparkling meads alongside (optional*) tasty cheese boxes provided by local creamery, Point Reyes Farmstead. We'll finish our time together learning how to create a festive flower crown just in time for May Day!

*Picky eater? Got allergies, sensitivities or dietary preferences? Feel free to skip the cheese box and bring your own grub! If you would like a cheese box, there will be an option to order one at checkout. There will be additional snacks and cheese box accompaniments (tapanade, crackers, yucca chips, cornichorns, canned muscles & fish) available for purchase at the meadery the day of the retreat.

The Land

Heidrun Meadery opened it's doors to the public in Point Reyes Station in 2012 and hhas been making mead since 1997. Since then, the 16 acre property has been transformed from a dairy farm into a bee forage oasis. The serene property boasts a large converted barn which acts as the production facility and a charming greenhouse turned tasting room & gift shop, all surrounded by 16 acres of flowers fields, trees and bee's! In their pastures, gardens and greenhouse they cultivate flowering plants to provide healthy, natural, yearlong forage for their honey bee colonies, which you will have the opportunity to visit while on the farm.

The Yoga

Yoga will be held in the Olive Grove adjacent to the flower fields. Marina's classes are a steady paced, invigorating flow structured to awaken and empower while remaining deeply nourishing. Her teachings follow the seasons and are inspired by nature and the elements. Her main teachers and major influences have been Abby Tucker, Nubia Teixeira, Alexandria Crow & Kaya Mindlin. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle and any probs you with to use. Open to all levels of yoga experience.

The Tour & Tasting

After class we will be guided through a mead tasting comprised of 4 different single varietal meads (amounting to about a glass in total). We will begin our tasting next to the bee hives where Heidrun's Farm Manager Savanna will begin our tour of the farm. The tasting will conclude at the Olive Grove picnic tables where we'll be able to enjoy the beauty of the property while crafting flower crowns and snacking on local cheeses. You're welcome to linger beyond our end time of 1pm to try more meads or dive into a delicious honey tasting! You might also choose to throw on your flower crown and head into town or to one of the many local beaches!

The Food

Optional cheese boxes will be available to order when you register for the event. These cheese boxes are artfully curated by Point Reyes Farmstead and include 4 different cheeses, roasted almonds, fresh and dried fruits and Tcho Chocolates. Crackers and gluten free yucca chips will be available for purchase on-site for an additional cost. We will enjoy our cheese boxes in the Olive Grove (or at an indoor space if the weather isn't cooperating) alongside our final 2 pours. Please also feel free to bring your own food. For those of us feeling peckish post yoga, fruit will be available immediately following class.

The Flower Crown

The flowers will be sourced from offsite as the flowers growing at Heidrun are for our Bee friends. Marina will be guiding participants through the process of creating their very own beautiful fresh flower crown and has over 10 years of experience as a floral artist.

Marina is a life-long Bay Area resident, yogini mama and lover of all that is wild. Her classes, workshops and retreats invite students to explore the details of all experiences with the utmost passion and curiosity. For her, yoga asana is an embodied ritual which has the capacity to uncover our most vibrant, potent selves. Her slow moving vinyasa classes are alignment-rich, highly creative, and meant to honor and celebrate each students unique connection to yoga. One of her greatest joys is being able to merge my love for nature with my passion for yoga.

What a treat to be on retreat with Marina and her diverse and conscious community of yogis. The setting was beautiful, the food was delicious, and our leader created a context to unwind that allowed us to get into our bodies in no time.. She was very responsive to the energy of the group, providing a supportive space for all of us to walk the fine line between exertion and relaxation. It was a perfect weekend getaway!

This trip was even more magical than I hoped it would be, and I returned fully recharged. Marina is a fantastic trip leader--fun, flexible, responsive to evolving group needs, and always willing to hang out, laugh or lead a hiking adventure. The location--an off-the-grid fruit and flower farm in Mendocino--was so special, with delicious local vegetarian food, an outdoor shower that looked like it was built by fairies, fires at night, extra-comfy beds, and a warm owner who invited us to wander her orchards and pick any fruit we wanted to eat. We practiced wrapped in fog; hiked to the ocean; watched the sunset and the full moon rise over the redwoods. Amazing!

I adore Marina’s regular yoga class as well as her retreats, and this one was no exception. Gorgeous magical West Marin property; blissful sound healing with Aleksandra; sweet hostess and of course Marina’s sunny vibes. My friend and I felt like we had gotten away for much longer than just a day!
