About this trip

These days people don’t just come to DC for its history. They travel to the nation’s capital to enjoy its rich food scene. The number of restaurants to try can be quite overwhelming. For our Food-Cation, we’ve selected some of our favorite restaurants and business establishments to visit.

Additionally, we will be attending Metro Cooking DC. Come with a big appetite and willingness to learn while we discover aisle of specialty food vendors and experience an abundance of gourmet tastes. Also, get to see and meet some of your favorite celebrity chefs. Visit https://www.metrocookingdc.com/ for more information about Metro Cooking DC.

Selected restaurants/establishments we plan to visit:

- Joselito

- Ted's Bulletin

- Las Placitas

- Eastern Market

Also, we'll have an interactive food and wine tasting with Vincent Moten, Elevate Your Tastes, and Chef Khari Bell, The Kulinary Project.

Get ready for the ultimate food experience.

This trip is little different than our past offerings. This is NOT a bus trip. You have to book you own transportation (Amtrak) and hotel (Courtyard Washington Downtown Convention Center). The schedule is based on taking the train (Amtrak) to DC. We will be getting on at the Norfolk and Richmond (Staples Mills Road) location. However, feel free to drive your own car OR even take Mega Bus. If you drive your own car, please take into account hotel or downtown parking fees (parking downtown can be up to $50+ a night).

We had a wonderful time. The trip was well organized. The boat trip to the island was great. We saw only a few ponies because they were hiding between trees for shade. However, we got to see several dolphins swimming around the boat which stopped for us to take pictures. The bus tour of Chincoteague was very informative and interesting. Thanks Andre for adding that piece. The Crab fest was fantastic! Food was surprisingly good. Crabs were delicious. Discover Chincoteague Island Trip was clearly a five star trip.
