About your trip

Immerse yourself in Africa at its wildest on a small group photographic safari to South Luangwa, where legendary leopard sightings, dramatic predator encounters, and vibrant birdlife unfold in extraordinary light. Designed for photographers in pursuit of powerful, story-driven images, this is not a sightseeing safari; it is a deeply immersive experience centered on exceptional wildlife, dramatic light, and authentic moments in one of Africa’s most iconic wilderness destinations.

About South Luangwa

Experts have long hailed South Luangwa as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries on Earth, and for good reason. The Luangwa River and its winding oxbow lagoons act as a lifeline for the valley, drawing extraordinary concentrations of wildlife and creating some of the most intense and dynamic wildlife viewing found anywhere in Africa.

A rich mosaic of habitats from riverine forest and open floodplains to dense woodland supports an astonishing diversity of life. Over 60 mammal species roam the valley, while nearly 400 species of birds fill the skies and riverbanks, including unforgettable seasonal spectacles, such as the vibrant carmine bee eater colonies, among the most photogenic bird events on the continent.

Known as the “Valley of the Leopard,” South Luangwa is world renowned for its exceptionally high density of these elusive cats, offering some of the most reliable leopard sightings in Africa. Few places on the planet provide such consistent, intimate, and visually compelling opportunities to photograph leopards, often in beautiful natural settings, dramatic light, and authentic behavioral moments that define truly world-class wildlife experiences.

Our Camps

Our two camps are set deep in the remote northern reaches of South Luangwa National Park, a pristine and less visited region celebrated for its diverse landscapes and outstanding wildlife concentrations. This wild corner of the park, far from the busier southern areas, offers a sense of true exclusivity and immersion that few places in Africa can still deliver.

With very few camps in this remote wilderness, wildlife encounters here are remarkably intimate and unhurried, allowing for crowd free experiences and extended time with wildlife, an essential ingredient for meaningful photography. The varied terrain of riverbanks, lagoons, woodland, and open floodplains provides ever changing backgrounds and exceptional opportunities to capture animals in dynamic, natural settings.

Our camps are renowned for their pioneering approach to wildlife viewing and photography. An exclusive network of expertly positioned wildlife hides offer safe, ground level access to elephants, birds, and other species, creating extraordinary photographic perspectives that are simply not possible from a vehicle. These hides allow for close, ethical encounters, intimate compositions, and eye-level imagery that bring a unique and powerful dimension to your photography.

Our camps are intentionally small and intimate, offering a refined sense of comfort without losing the feeling of being deeply connected to the wilderness. Thoughtfully spaced rooms ensure peace, privacy, and uninterrupted views, each positioned to immerse you in the sights and sounds of the African bush.

Wake to wildlife just beyond your deck, where elephants, antelope, and birds may pass by as you sip your morning coffee. Unwind in the afternoon with an open air bath on your private verandah, soaking in the stillness and atmosphere of the valley as the day fades into golden light.

Dining is an experience in itself, with delicious, freshly prepared meals thoughtfully tailored to accommodate any dietary needs. And of course, no safari would be complete without a relaxed afternoon tea, a cherished tradition between game drives.

Thoughtful details elevate the experience, including complimentary laundry service, allowing you to pack light and focus entirely on the adventure, the photography, and the unforgettable moments unfolding around you.

What Makes This Safari Unique

This safari is designed with a single purpose: to deliver a wildlife viewing and photographic experience without equal. This is not an ordinary safari. Every element; logistical, creative, and experiential has been meticulously considered to ensure your time in South Luangwa is seamless, immersive, and deeply rewarding. From the moment you arrive to your final game drive, the focus remains firmly on you, your photography, and the moments unfolding in front of your lens.

A small group of just four guests ensures a truly personalized experience. With no competing priorities or crowded vehicles, your pace, interests, and creative goals shape each day in the field. This level of exclusivity is rare and transformative.

Our remote, private location in the northern reaches of South Luangwa means genuine solitude. With few camps and minimal vehicle traffic, we often enjoy wildlife encounters entirely to ourselves, allowing for quiet observation, ethical positioning, and unhurried time to work a scene as it naturally unfolds.

Intimate, thoughtfully designed camps provide a peaceful retreat after long days in the bush. With space, privacy, and refined comforts, you can truly rest, recharge, and reflect, ready for the next morning’s light.

An exclusive network of wildlife hides offers safe, ground level access to elephants, birds, and other species, creating extraordinary eye level perspectives and intimate compositions that elevate your photographic experience beyond what traditional game drives can offer.

Custom, photography friendly open vehicles are purpose built for serious shooters, featuring camera rests and clamps for stability and flexibility allowing you to stay focused on framing, timing, and light.

A seamless journey from start to finish includes your first night hotel stay in Lusaka with a welcome dinner, as well as all internal flights to and from camp; removing logistical stress and allowing you to focus entirely on the experience.

This is a safari for photographers who want more: more time, more access, more intention, and more meaning behind every image. It’s an experience designed not just to capture wildlife but to truly connect with one of Africa’s last great wildernesses.
