About this trip

The Freedom Yoga journey continues in 2017! This time, the global sangha of Freedom Yogis gathers under Montana’s spacious Big Sky to support one another in cultivating the practice of deep inner listening and self-trust. This time, going into the Teacher Within is more important than ever.

For over two decades at the Feathered Pipe, beloved master teacher and longtime Ranch friend Erich Schiffmann held the space for shared inquiry into the truth, practicing freedom yoga together, and supporting one another in cultivating the skills to be the place where Love flows through. Ranch weeks with Erich were the stuff of legend — annual pilgrimages for many that created a rich, ever-morphing, inclusive, and eclectic community of practitioners dedicated to embodying the teachings. But all great teachers point students into the guiding light of their own Teacher Within, not to themselves. In summer 2016, Erich announced he was taking a sabbatical from teaching, nudging students to turn the page to a fresh chapter in the Freedom Yoga’s ongoing evolution.

We invite practitioners at any level who are keen to explore the rich gifts of self-practice, regardless of whether they’ve experienced Freedom Yoga before, to come to the Ranch for a sublime week of practice, laughter, discovery, and immersion in Freedom Yoga. Long-time Freedom Yoga teacher Carie Garrett, Erich’s teaching assistant at the Ranch for the past 13 years, will gently facilitate our morning time with softly guided sessions including meditation, group discussion, creative asana segments, and freeform. Afternoon sessions will consists of group discussion and freeform. The time in between is fluid and open to inwardly guided spontaneity, such as a morning hike, bodywork, or an impromptu practice led by someone in the group.

This very special week at the Ranch embraces the ‘open space’ spirit, inviting you to create a schedule and rhythm that bows to your own powers of self-organization and intuition. Under the expansive beauty of Montana’s Big Sky and free from distractions, you’ll enjoy the time and open space to tune your awareness toward your own yoga and meditation practice, and discover the balance between community and solitude that suits you best. You’ll be fully supported throughout as our caring staff attends to your needs, the creators in our kitchen delight your taste buds with nourishing and tasty culinary gifts, and Mother Nature feeds your soul.
