Trek through Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a region in Italy's northeast corner, straddling the borders of Austria and Slovenia. This region represents a cultural crossroads of Central and South Europe. Here you will find the blue Adriatic coast with its lively beach scene, the craggy and breathtaking Dolomite mountains, and some of the best white wine in all of Italy. The capital city in which we will be staying in, Trieste, is a prime example of the regions back and forth history between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian empire. The Castello Miramare is a beautiful landmark built for the Austrian Archduke in the 19th century. The region also features many old sites like the Roman Aquileia, a UNESCO heritage site. We will be flying into and out of the Marco Polo airport in Venice, and we will also be spending some time there.
We will arrive in Venice Marco Polo Airport. After everybody has arrived, we will board our bus and head off to spend the day in Venice. We will leave the luggage on board the bus, which will be waiting for us to depart for our hotel in Trieste at night.
