This is a first! We’re surely going to end up on national news for this stunt. We are hosting 12 fortunate, burned-out, ready-for-a-road-trip people on a caravan from the ashram to Bikaner! You, a partner, and a camel with covered carriage will walk veeeeerrrry slowly through the desert. Decompress with Papu the camel, write that book that’s been sitting on the back burner for the last decade, or get to know your wife again. Papu has a saddle and a carriage so the seating is up to you – up top or down below. We’ll be camping and cooking along the way, “rough”. So you’ll also learn some recipes from our new ashram cook book Yogi Recipe Book, and participating in morning yoga classes, and evening satsang.
Along the way there will be some surprises – wildlife, celebration, stories, music and dance.
Once we arrive in Bikaner, we will tour the famous Junagarh Fort, and participate in all the festivities associated with Bikaner camel festival. We will all stay together comfortably in pre-arranged housing with pure veg meals. You can then begin the next leg of your journey from the train station, or return to the ashram by vehicle to extend your stay.

A shuttle will transport you from Jodhpur airport at or around 2 PM carrying you in comfortable vehicles to the ashram, 1.5 hours north. There you will refresh, eat and enjoy campus before music and drumming in the temple. During satsang (spiritual conversation) there will be an orientation about the camel caravan. You can read more about the ashram at Shri Jasnath Asan.
After morning yoga class we will saddle up and walk north into Barmer District together with our camel drivers, chef, and other care takers trained to make the trip fun and comfortable. We will be stopping every few hours for bathroom, eating, and sightseeing. In the evenings we will have another yoga class, fire, music and ritual at sundown, followed by a meal and a discussion. We will be sleeping inside the camel carts. All bedding and necessities including water will be provided.
During the camel festival we will stay comfortably in a residence while enjoying the festivities of this traditional Rajasthani annual event.
We will also be touring the famous Junagarh Fort during this weekend.
We say good bye to our camels at the festival and return to the ashram in vehicles. There we will rest and recover from our adventures, enjoying the activities of campus.
Now you can either depart for Jodhpur or remain at ashram for long-deserved R&R. You will find the accomodations clean and accomodating, organic and silent. Welcome home. Day rates range from $20-50 USD. Contact us for booking extra days. info@shrijasnathasan.org
