Early breakfast today! A van is waiting to take you North. By lunch time you'll be by Lake Reschen (almost 1500 meters of altitude!) among the majestic Alps. You cannot miss a picture of the iconic bell tower that reflects on the blue waters of the lake. It is what remains of a village, which was submerged to build the lake itself. Lake Reschen is today one of the main water reservoirs in the area.
Bike ride to Silandro, overnight in Silandro.
Everybody speaks German in Valvenosta, reign of apples and woods. The bike path is pleasant and it'll take you to the city of Merano.
Take your time for a stroll in the center before heading towards Bolzano, the destination of today.
Luggage transfer. Overnight in Bolzano.
Bolzano is a city rich in history, influenced by Germanic culture and surrounded by the Alps. Walk around in Piazza Walther and along the narrow central alleys, plan an early visit of the museum where Otzi mummy is kept.
The bike itinerary goes South along the verdant Adige valley and crosses immense fields planted with honeycombs and vineyards, always on a flat bike path. Along the way, the village of Egna, an ancient market town with beautiful streets flanked by arcades, deserves a visit. Finally we arrive in Trento, a city where history and modernity coexist perfectly.
Luggage transfer, overnight in Trento.
Leave Trento and continue pedaling along the Adige river, in an area dotted with castles, towers and forts, such as the mighty Beseno Castle, which dominates the valley from the top of a hill. We recommend a small detour to visit the beautiful historic center of Rovereto, made up of narrow alleys permeated by a medieval atmosphere. The itinerary continues South, through the town of Ala, with its beautiful noble palaces, and finally arrives at the small village of Rivalta, the destination of the day.
Luggage transfer, overnight in Rivalta.
The cycle path runs along the wildest stretch of the Val d'Adige. The valley becomes narrower, guarded by high mountains, the rarest towns and the valley floor covered with immense vineyards surrounded by woods. The route passes through the spectacular Chiusa dell’Adige, a canyon with high walls, and then leaves the cycle path and heads towards Lake Garda. In Bardolino we finally touch the blue waters of the lake and then, mostly following the coast, we reach Peschiera del Garda.
Luggage transfer, overnight in Peschiera del Garda.
The ride of today is a loop to discover Sirmione, the most iconic village of the Lake: leave the bike out of the entrance (a castle of the Scaligeri family) and walk around the narrow roads of the village. Depending on the time of the year, it can be pretty crowded, but it is worthy! Reach the green waters at the top of the peninsula and enjoy the visit of the rests of a Roman villa (Grottoes od Catullo).
In the afternoon you can ride around the countryside of the Lake, it is the area of the Lugana wine. How can you resist to a wine tasting?
6 PM Pick up of the bikes at the Hotel in Peschiera.
Second overnight in Peschiera del Garda.
Breakfast, check out and individual departure.
Arrivederci!
