Embark on a fascinating journey to Bagamoyo, Tanzania’s oldest town and once a vital port during the  19th century. Visit iconic sites like the Kaole Ruins, Caravan Serai, Bagamoyo Old Town, and the  Bagamoyo Catholic Museum. This tour reveals the intertwined histories of Arab traders, Christian  missionaries, and the local Swahili community, providing an enriching cultural experience just a short  drive from Dar es Salaam.

  1. 48+ Hours Before Tour Date: Full refund minus the non-refundable deposit (if applicable).
  2. 24-48 Hours Before Tour Date: 50% refund.
  3. Less than 24 Hours / No Show: No refund.
  4. Rescheduling: Allowed once at no extra cost if requested 48+ hours before the tour date. Subject to availability.

Children Policy

  1. Ages 0-3: Free of charge (must be accompanied by an adult).
  2. Ages 4-10: 50% of the adult price.
  3. Ages 11+: Full adult price.
  4. All children must be under the supervision of an adult throughout the tour.

Bagamoyo Town Tour

7:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive to Bagamoyo. 

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Visit Kaole Ruins, an archaeological site with ancient mosques and tombs dating  back to the 13th century. Learn about the town’s early Islamic influence. 

10:45 AM - 11:30 AM: Explore Caravan Serai, a resting place for slave and trade caravans en route to the  Indian Ocean ports. 

11:45 AM - 1:00 PM: Stroll through Bagamoyo Old Town, marveling at its colonial-era architecture,  including the German Boma and old Arab houses. 

1:15 PM - 2:15 PM: Enjoy a local lunch at a traditional restaurant, sampling Swahili delicacies. 

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Visit the Bagamoyo Catholic Museum, housed in one of the earliest churches in East  Africa, showcasing artifacts and photographs documenting missionary activities. 

3:45 PM - 4:30 PM: Walk along the Bagamoyo shoreline and learn about its role in the slave trade and  dhow-building traditions. 

4:30 PM - 5:00 PM: Depart Bagamoyo for Dar es Salaam. 6:30 PM: Drop-off at your hotel.
