      About this trip

Ladies, join us on an unforgettable journey on our Galapagos women’s trip. This is a fun, educational, active adventure for women to explore the Galapagos with new adventure buddies and future life-long friends.

Daily excursions include snorkeling trips, birding, and nature walks will introduce you to various habitats from humid highland forests, to lowland marine desert, and white sand beaches. Wildlife we anticipate to see include: 2 species of giant tortoises, marine iguanas, land iguanas, various sea turtles, white tipped sharks, eagle rays, flamingos, blue-footed boobies, Darwin’s finches, and possibly penguins.

No previous experience required. Our Galapagos women’s trip is designed for the beginner in mind. It is the perfect balance between land and water actives, and outdoor adventure and R&R. The Galapagos Explorer adventure for women is based in Santa Cruz and includes several day trips by catamaran to the islands of North Seymour, The Plazas, and Bartolome Island. Mid way through, we move to Isabela Island to spend 2 nights exploring above and below the waterline.

As a land-based trip, you will have the freedom and flexibility to explore, shop, and people watch in Puerto Ayora at the end of each day. The hotel in Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz is located conveniently within walking distance of Tortuga Bay, the Charles Darwin Research Station, the fishing port, markets, and other cultural points of interest. There is also the option to hang out by the pool, too.

      Trip Highlights:

      • Visit 4 different islands in the archipelago to learn about how species have adapted to survive in these extreme environments.
      • Hike trails through other-worldly habitats like the Scalesia Forest, these trees are giant Daisies, and they are so abundant in the highlands, they have an eco-zone named after them.
      • Snorkel a variety of sites on different islands with amazing marine life like schools of fish, sea turtles, marine iguanas, white tipped reef sharks, sea lions, and possibly manta rays or penguins.
      • See giant Galapagos Tortoises in their nature habitat.
      • See a variety of bird species like Blue-footed Boobies, Magnificent Frigate Birds, Flamingos, and all of the species of finches Darwin researched to help him write Origin of Species.
      • Guided city tour of the historic district of Quito to learn about the architecture, culture, and history of the city.
      • Visit the Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World) exhibit and participate in experiments that can only be done at the Equator.

This trip was spectacular. I found adventure and serenity. How can you explain to anyone a trip to Iceland with Green Edventures?? From the trip leader, to the local guide, to the food and the activities... it's something you must experience for yourself.

Once again Green Edventures does not disappoint! With trip lead Kelly and Iceland Guide Inga leading the way we were treated to spectacular views, ice adventures, geothermal relaxation, delicious food, and an overall amazing adventure. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we saw and did as much as possible with the flexibility to adjust adventures as needed. I can not recommend Green Edventures highly enough, everyone should experience the many once in a lifetime trips available!

Wow, what an adventure. This was my 9th trip with Green Edventures and Tara does not disappoint. We saw humpbacks, dolphins., porpoises, sea lions, seals, orcas, and grizzles in addition to sea birds. We learned why not to eat farm raised salmon. The sea kayaking was amazing, food delicious, and cormoradory delightful. I highly recommend this trip or any other Green Ed trip. I would do it again.

I went on an amazing trip with Tara to Baja, Mexico in 2020. This was a dream trip for me being a wildlife lover. It was incredible to be able to swim with whale sharks and sea lions and get up close with gray whales. Camping on the beach was amazing. We had a great group of women and everyone vibed well and all of the tour guides including Tara, Alex and Chabello were so fun, friendly and helpful every step of the way. The food was great at the campsite and at the restaurants we got to try. When our trip plans initially got derailed waiting on a negative Covid test and we had to get a different flight, Tara did everything in her power to accommodate us and make sure we got to enjoy every part of the trip, including setting us up with another whale shark swimming tour after we had missed the initial one with the group, and she spent time waiting for us to finish before leaving for the airport. I definitely recommend Green Edventures, especially the Baja Mexico trip!

I just returned from the Wisconsin Women's Tour and couldn't have asked for a better trip! For me, the amount and type of activity were perfect. Who know there was so much to discover practically in my own backyard?
